....
"After the game Arkansas Coach Mike Anderson mentioned Hampton by name, a major no-no in the SEC.

Still, Hampton had made a call against the Razorbacks last season that cost them a game against the Gators, and he was a student-athlete at Kentucky when Florida assistant John Pelphrey also was a student-athlete there and Gators Coach Billy Donovan was an assistant.

Because he graduated from Kentucky and lives in Lexington, Hampton isn't allowed to call Wildcats games during the regular season -- he can and does call exhibition games for the Wildcats -- and apparently now you can add Arkansas and Florida to the list of schools he cannot work as an official.

Which makes perfect sense why Anderson was reprimanded by the league but not fined for calling out Hampton after the game.
..

I love it if TRUE..

The gig is up for Hampton. Cost us two Florida wins before they finally caught up to him.

Sounds like the Sun Belt or Southland should be next in his future.

He already was doing those games, haha.

This will help the league.. puts everybody on alert.. and exposes the network the officials  operate in...  SEC handled it as best they could.. as did Mike..

Many would have love to see it.  However, Mike truly understands where he is and the fine line he must walk.  I'm grateful for that in a way, because though I believe everyone should be able to speak their mind even at its most irate, barring violence, it's great that Mike understands the limits, and as such (possibly to the disappointment of many) he'll probably be here until he's done with coaching.  That's awesome, because it means long-term stability under a coach who doesn't lose very many games, gets kids to play a very unique style, and who is a very stand-up guy and a super-solid individual (I've had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times) who is there for the university, the state, and most of all the kids.  He holds his tongue quite a bit, but this year, with such tight games, there are times where a tech would have been warranted but might have cost the Hogs the game.  It makes it almost surprising that he called this guy out, but when someone is SUCH AND OBVIOUS TURD who has no business reffing, there's just no holding the tongue.

I appreciate that he isn't allowed to call UA FL games but at this point should he be able to call a UA game at all? Isn't it now at the personal level having been called out by CMA? It seems he would carry a grudge into any game of ours he would call.

forrest city joe

I tried to tell folks that all refs are not honest people who do a good honest job. some of them are cheating scumbags like Hampton.(There are others like Valentine and Tony Green)by doing this, the Sec is admitting they have a cheat among their ranks. Hampton is be fired from all Sec games. he has no cred and is a disgrace.

Should never be allowed to do any game featuring Florida,  Kentucky, or Arkansas ever again. Doesn't matter if it's pre, regular, or post season

Just more proof SEC has not done enough in the past about Refs being as unprofessional as these incidents has pointed out. Un-bias officiating in all sports should be demanded by SEC brass. The florida games was obvious ref bias and Billy Donovan looked like the cat that ate the canary when he left the court that day.
I think even the TV cameraman thought as much as he followed him off the court.  While good officials are hard to find I know. Examples need to be made of a select group in SEC that continue to display bias officiating. The best way is to terminate the worse abusers such as this Hampton guy.
go hogs go !

I hope this covers the NCAAT as well. If the SEC really wanted to send a message, they would hold a press conference telling everyone they will never allow Hampton to officiate an SEC game ever again. Then all of the other conferences would know they shouldn't use him either.

I interpreted the article to mean he is not allowed to call Arkansas or Florida games not just when they play each other. Is that not the case?

Großer Kriegschwein

He should be calling community college games in Alaska. Just sayin

Definitely a step in the right direction. The obvious bias he's shown should warrant a permanent ban in the SEC though.

Agreed!!! Refs should be held accountable. The only problem is it's always after the damage has been done.

He needs to go manage a Cinnabon, spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder and watch videos of his glory days ref'ing at night all alone.

He should publicly apologize and admit his officiating sins if he ever wants to call another game.

Why is he not banned for good? We will never get that W back. It will hurt our eventual seeding in the NCAA and may also end up costing us second place in the SEC.

Since as Razorback fans we have suffered  an injury, can we file a class action suit?

I read it the same way you did. No Kentucky, Florida or Arkansas games at all no matter who they are playing.

Donnie Tyndall has that job locked up as soon as the Vols' basketball season is over.

I'm pretty sure Wally just uses the handy find/replace feature on a few article templates these days.  He's just cashing checks at this point.

The only time he sits down to actually pen an article is when he's attended some social function and wants to drop a couple names, or when he wants to tell everyone about how he was slighted in some way.  Both of which are just poorly disguised ways for him to try to convince people he's still kind of a big deal.

I mean, how sad is that?  The best the guy can do is to try and convince people that he used to be Ron Burgundy.  Jesus that's almost too sad to type.

Pretty good Saul.  Added just a bit for amusement.

Beaverfever

I don't understand why we can't get refs that have basically no connections to the SEC.  If you attended an SEC school I think it's best that you just ref a different league.

philobeddoe

Who's this Wally guy that people speak of. Oh, it's the same guy that, basically, does a game recap rather than an actual commentary, after each Razorback game (whether it be basketball or football).  In other words, as the "sports editor" of our state newspaper, he, more less, copies the articles of his subordinate jurnalists and calls it his commentary. Sorry if this offends anyone, but Wally is, and always has been, the laughing stock of SEC media. He would be better off reliving his softball playing glory days and writing about that for some of our small town papers. Wait, he'd probably be an embarrassment at that too.

Sorry for the rant.  Caught me at a weak moment, but he really is horrible at what he attempts to do for a living.
