The bears cut OT Cameron Jefferson. NFL teams must trim their rosters down to 75 by tomorrow.

Miami cut 3 WR's so far and Cobi Hamilton is not one of them. Their roster now lists 9 WR's, and teams typically keep 6 or 7. After leading the dolphins week 1 in receiving, I haven't seen that he's collected any more stats.

San Diego released 1 WR today and have 9 WR's left on their roster as well, including Javontee Herndon who was on their practice squad last season.

Jags cut one DE. Chris Smith was on their practice squad most of last year.

Saw on article where Chris Smith was working with first unit yesterday after an injury to the starting end...

Updates on cuts as well as the players in general.

Alvin Bailey: Earlier, I mentioned that Bailey was the favorite to start at LG for the seahawks this year. He's been one of their primary backup OL players for the past couple years, the position was wide open, and he came into camp at a much better weight. However, He was beat out by Justin Britt at LG. He did start week 3's preseason game at LT in place of Okung, but did not perform terribly well. Many people had high expectations for Bailey this year with the seahawks and so far he has disappointed.

Jake Bequette: His NFL career lasts a little bit longer. Instead of officially being cut, he was waived by the team for an injury he received and is likely to the spend the season on IR joining fellow hog Derby.

Knile Davis: Not much to report on. He is solidly entrenched as the number 2 behind Charles.

AJ Derby: IR with the patriots.

Trey Flowers: Has been impressing coaches when healthy. He hurt his shoulder shortly after sacking Rodgers, and missed the following game, but had a productive outing vs the Panthers. While a lock for making the roster it appears, there is some talented depth in front of him so he may not see much PT. However, the pats have shown some 4 DE looks on passing downs in which Flowers would likely be involved and of course, injuries can happen.

Jerry Franklin: He's mostly played well in the preseason, but he did have a penalty negating a long punt return. I've searched, but not hearing any buzz about him making the roster, though he did survive the first week of cuts.

Brett Goode is good.

Chris Gragg: The phrase spoken about him is playing his way into a roster spot, or late push for a roster spot. Currently, he is right on the bubble with his spot on the roster possibly depending on how many TE's they decide to keep. He seems to be number 4 on the list. He has certainly impressed as of late, the big question is, was it enough?

Cobi Hamilton: Only news I found on him was a guy predicting the first round of roster cuts. However, the Dolphins ended up cutting 3 WR's in the first round of cuts, but Hamilton remains. Now, it isn't likely that he makes the 53 man roster, but he will have ample opportunity to show that he is worth something as starters rarely or barely play in week 4. Week four is typically an audition for a practice squad with either your team or somebody else's.

Javontee Herndon is doing all he can to get a roster spot, having a versatile and impressive preseason making some plays on special teams, at rb, and wr.

Hocker has been playing well this preseason, and have him as the presumed winner of the kicker battle b/w himself and Hopkins. However, HC Peyton said that it was good to see Hocker hit the long ball, but he hopes to see a more clear separation b/w the two kickers. Both have had good days and bad days in practice. He wants the decision to be an easy one, but my guess is that if he had to cut today (he has 3 more days to make the decision) it would be Hocker.

Ryan Mallett: Not much news to report on him now that isn't widely known. NFL had an article on different team's ceilings and floors and the author though that Houston's ceiling is if somehow Mallett quickly becomes their starter again.

Darren McFadden: Not much here either. He looked like the best back in week 3, but it will still be a committee approach.

Tevin Mitchel: As reported earlier was waived by the Redskins and is now part of the colts, but is still expected to miss the season, so is on their IR.

Jason Peters is still a premier LT.

Darius Philon: Couldn't find anything in the past week for him other than the chargers expect all of their picks to make the roster and possibly play week 1.

Kiero Small: Reports are that he has looked good at FB in training camp, but that the ravens already have an entrenched starter so Small will likely be on a different team this season.

Chris Smith: Reportedly on the roster bubble a week ago is now with the first string. Initially buried deep on the depth chart, Dante Fowler went down for the year with an ACL tear. Veteran Clemons has skipped all voluntary workouts and much of the preseason, relegating him to only playing on third downs, then Andre Branch was injured and will miss significant time, leaving Smith to work with the first string. His response is that he will now be out there watching film on all 3 downs rather than just watching 3rd down film of opponents.

Martrell Spaight: Not much on him other than he appears to be in line to make the 53 man roster as he has also worked well on special teams.

Travis Swanson: Unlike Bailey, Swanson who was the heir apparent at center this year has held onto the job and done well.

Robert Thomas: Has flashed some potential during practices, but is a longshot to make the roster. However, there is thought that he will make the practice squad.

DJ Williams: Losing Paulson and Paul, left the Redskins with Reed as their only experienced TE, one who also gets injured, and 3 inexperienced guys. Williams survived the first cuts and now is one one of 3 guys looking to take 1 or 2 roster spots alongside Reed.

Jarius Wright appears slotted in as the starting slot receiver.

Glad to see Wright may be starting, I really think he can do well given the chance.

Hocker may not make the Saints roster when it's all said and done, but I think he has a great chance to end up on a team that has an injured kicker this season.

He came in with a lot of hype and was one of the reasons we always expected to have a monster line that year, but then the line wouldn't do as much as we thought. His senior year, though, he actually was on roll for us. He was in the backfield much more than you expect a DT to be, but he was injured early in the season.

Can't say too many hog fans thought he had much of a shot in the NFL, even as a udfa. However, he is a good example of potential over production. Not that he has set the nfl on fire by any stretch, but he's been on the active roster for a couple weeks and still getting to play which is more than most college players ever get to say.

Back in 9, 10, and 11 who would have projected that J Wright would have been the most solid pro out of all the non-RB skill positions? Other than maybe DJ, he was the most consistent performer!

Yes, and so was Jake Bequette. However, I had read where they put bequette on the injured list and was under the impression that so long as they aren't designated to return, they won't count against the 53? Is there a limit as to how many can be listed there?

Also, there are quite a few studly SEC defenders who are still young but have been cut this year. Robert Lester and Louise Nix come to mind.

Correct. I live in Houston and he has been a total bust.  Lazy and never could seem to make it through a full practice. This offseason he had two great role models to follow in Watt and Wilfork and he decided to stay home and do his own thing. Not real smart.

There isn't, but he was cut from that list.   He's not going to be a Patriot anymore.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I would have been surprised if he was, but when they put him on the IR instead of just cutting him, I was holding on for hope. Plus, he has expired his practice squad eligibility I think. I heard some promising things about him at TE, that was just a really unfortunate timing with the injury, plus Patriots were pretty stacked at TE. However, some other team may have seen him in the preseason. Best of luck to him though.

Herndon made the Chargers practice squad.

I'm out for a few days and the hawg marshal picks up the slack, nice work.

Adding that Robert Thomas was also cut by the skins and Jerry Franklin who had a good camp and preseason was cut. Neither appear to have been signed to the practice squad.

I was pulling for Herndon to sneak into the roster, but would have been shocked if he wasn't practice squaded.

Also, Robert Thomas's NFL career continues as he was signed to the Seahawks practice squad.

Uncommon

Is this where we're at now:
14 on active rosters
QB Ryan Mallett
RB Darren McFadden
RB Knile Davis
WR Jarius Wright
TE Chris Gragg
OL Jason Peters
OL Alvin Bailey
OL Travis Swanson
DL Chris Smith
DL Trey Flowers
DL Darius Philon
LB Martrell Spaight
K Zach Hocker
LS Brett Goode

2 Injured Reserve
TE AJ Derby
DB Tevin Mitchel

2 Practice Squad
WR Javontee Herndon
DL Robert Thomas

bennyl08

NFL hogs and teams as best to the best of my knowledge:

Alvin Bailey, Seahawks: Listed #2 on depth chart at LT, LG, and RT.
Knile Davis, Chiefs: Solidly the #2 at RB and starting KR
AJ Derby, Patriots: IR at TE
Trey Flowers, Patriots: 3rd string RDE.
Brett Goode, Packers: Starting LS.
Chris Gragg, Bills: 3rd string TE
Javontee Herndon, Chargers: Practice Squad, WR and PR
Zach Hocker, Saints: Starting kicker, finally making a roster
Ryan Mallett, Texans: Backup QB, though will likely start at some point
Darren McFadden, Cowboys: Starter at RB though likely a committee approach
Tevin Mitchel, Colts: IR at CB
Jason Peters, Eagles: Starting LT
Darius Philon, Chargers: 3rd string DE
Chris Smith, Jaguars: Currently listed as 4th string DE on the official website, but it has Andre Branch starting who has a torn MCL. There was news of Smith working with the first team on first and second down as Chris Clemons is aiming to just be an effective passing situation rusher. So, possibly a starter?
Martrell Spaight, Redskins: Backup MLB
Travis Swanson, Lions: Starting Center
Robert Thomas, Seahawks: Practice Squad DE
Jarius Wright, Vikings: Starting slot receiver

I hate that he didn't make it, I like ex-Hogs with New England because I love the Pats. I hate when they wind up with the Colts or Bears or Stealers and in rare instances, with the Cowgirls.

Best of luck for all of them.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
