Well, it does suck for 2019's home schedule for sure.

You guys arent excited about all the future threads on altitude's effects on football players?

The_Iceman

Should guarantee 4-0 non conference in 2018 and 2019. Good for the program in that sense.

Not many options with the Michigan cancellation. These series are usually put together many years in advance.

RazorPiggie

Should be a W I'm good with it.

roothawg

Considering all schedules were already filled i consider it a fairly good filler. Could have been alot worse.

Hollywood870

That's the big non- conference game they were talking about? This whole administration is a damn joke. Why tweet out that we are scheduling a big time home and home? Jeffrey and they boys have been taking you all for idiots for awhile now. Just keep putting 59,000 in a 72000 seat stadium, calling it full. And everyone keep donating. Game day experience you guys. We are who we are. A seven win per season team that should be happy with a crap bowl game. My 62 year old moms could make a bowl game nowadays. Go 10-3 next year and prove me wrong.

Good for the program until we run up on a real team and get the brakes beat off of us. CSU will probably handle us. They have the underdog edge. Don't tweet out about a premiere non- conference game and then say CSU. I thought we had them scheduled already?

Could you please explain your reasoning why this team should average more than 7 or 8 wins a season?

They didn't tweet out about a big time home and home, a reporter did. The same reporter didn't use "marquee" in his article from the media event before the club meeting. I'm guessing you get all your info from twitter??

It is what it is.  So we can all B about it or look at the bright side.

Fort Collins is 840 miles from Fayetteville according to Google maps.  Hour to hour and a half north of Denver.  Elevation is around 5,500 feet.

A RT ticket from XNA to Denver in September is running about $500, but everywhere is high from XNA (gouging bast*****).  Tulsa to Denver $250 and that's a nonstop flight.  LR to Denver can be had for around $300.  Didn't bother checking Southwest or other discounters, but $300 is not bad.  LR to Atlanta if we were say playing GA Tech would be $350.

Fort Collins population is about 150k making it larger than Fayetteville.  Colorado State has an enrollment around 33,000.  Founded in 1870 as a land grant institution (sounds familiar).  Campus looks beautiful as does the city.

They are building a new football stadium set for completion this fall.  It's on the small side at 41,000 seats, but will basically still be brand new when we play there in 2018.

CSU has some SEC ties with FL coach Jim McElwain having coached there and former GA QB Mike Bobo is the current HC.  If you have been following CFB for awhile you know Sonny Lubick had a decent run at CSU, coaching the Rams for 15 years with 4 10 win seasons and trips to 9 bowl games.

McElwain was only there for 3 seasons but improved each year with 10 wins his final year.  Mike Bobo has put together back to back 7-6 seasons.

If I had to guess I'd bet their bar/party/night life scene is as good as any other SEC city and probably better than many.  Honestly if you were going to spend some coin going to an away SEC game in 2018 I'd say save it for another year and go to Fort Collins instead.  SEC towns aren't going anywhere, have been to plenty of them already.  Would a Texas school have offer anything we haven't seen before?  OSU or OU may play better football but I've heard Norman and Stillwater are nothing special.

http://www.visitftcollins.com/things-to-do/discover-old-town/

So we get a road game in a nice place against a decent program with a nice chance of winning the game.  Should make for a great long weekend trip.

Its a pretty decent match up, given the time and money involved.     You can tell they had to give to get this game, by the home and home aspect.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Nice stadium. Smart to build it nice, but small. Attendance nationwide is only going to decline in the future as tvs get bigger and cheaper, and games get more expensive.

YES! I'll go and stay in my brother-in-laws house in Evergreen, CO then drive up for the game and make a circle back through the mountains! Beautiful there that time year.
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

Had us 5th in the country. Had us third in the BCS with a NC shot on the line in 2011 going into the final game vs LSU. Down 21-17 we are moving the ball in the 4th, we get a BS fumble by Dennis Johnson. His whole buttocks was on the ground when the ball came out. Don't even get me started on the Auburn game vs Cam in 2010, How many times have we finished ranked so far with BB? Just out coach some people and go 10-3 next year and I'll shut up.

Petrino averaged 8.5 wins a season. He did so with one of the best crop of in state talent we have seen, including a 5-star QB tailor made for his system, as well as Tyler Wilson.

Do you think his success would have continued at the 10 win rate, when considering his recruiting classes the two years prior to him being fired? QB talent and WR talent were about to take a huge hit, along with OL and Defense.

If Petrino would have stayed, he would be sitting right now like every other Razorback coach, averaging around 8 wins with a surge year here and there.

And it's not like we lost a home game because Michigan was going to be home and home.  So you get a home and home with CSU + $2 million dollars.  Not ideal but at the end of the day probably couldn't do much better with such short notice.

Petrino took 2 seasons to get it built and then had us rolling. Why do people keep arguing this? Just forget it. We have the ingredients for a vey good team next year. We'll see how they coach em up.

Colorado in September? Sign me up. The Aspen's will be in full bloom and there's legal weed.

We had Michigan, they punted (and paid) and we get a decent team in a part of the country in which we seldom play. Seems fine to me.

It's better than going to RUTGERS and getting our butt whooped.

Hmm, it will be interesting to see the contract, if it's a true home and home, with no guarantees for either team. Well, outside of the normal we pay you $300,000 this year, you pay us $300,000 next year.

You're building an argument against a coach that built a team that was better than most of its opponents in 2010 and 2011 at little ol Arkansas......
