Many on here are concerned about his size, but I want this kid bad.  Chizick has already made contact trying to get him to stay committed to Auburn.  The kid blasts off the line, check out his youtube clip.

Also ESPN's #16 ranked DE.

If we can steal him... HUGE pickup.
Unless his visit with Chizick made a big impression on him, I believe he's ours to lose.

I read this morning in an article at a paysite, after his visit with Chizik, we are still assured a visit, and that he still REALLY likes us.......

Give him a year in the weight room and he could put on some pounds by his second year.  By his Junior year, he should be near avg DT weight.
With that speed and motor he may be able to contribute earlier, without having to add a lot of weight.  Someone mentioned him being a Dwight Freeney type player, an undersized lineman that uses his speed and quickness rather than sheer bulk.  As RMH mentioned, he appears to have linebacker speed also, who knows, we'll be able to use him somewhere.

Beaverfever

His uncle is Auburn DE Antonio Coleman, who is a pretty good player.

Good news, I think this kid would be absolute hell on a 300+ lbs O-linemen trying to block him.

Espn has him rated higher that Jamontay Pilson who is a four star auburn commit at DT.

this is the motor that willy robinson needs in his pro style defense.  not necessarily a space eater, but someone who can wreak havoc on the center/guards.  blow the play up from the get go

It sounds like to me that with his size speed and quickness, he might be better suited to play Defensive End. He could make All American there.

He is a little short to be playing DE though, unless we stick him at LB and then have him put his hand on the ground to rush on obvious passing downs.

RazorBassin

Coleman is one of those guys we have been on since Tubberville's departure that I have really been wanting to commit.  I hope we land this kid!

Hogeration

That is a man.  That video was awesome.  The best was the last play where he strung out the play and made a huge hit.
GO HOGS.

AnthroHog

Everything I read on him is positive.  He says we're recruiting him the hardest and he likes us the most.  I wonder how long it will take him to commit to Arkansas once he sees campus.  WPS!!!

Also, it's strange to see someone rated higher on Scout than on Rivals.  It normally is the other way around.

it's not stealing.  more like auburn gave him away. all these coaching changes just go to show you how much kids commit based on the coach(s) vs. the school.  also points out what kind of job Petrino and staff did last year holding the class we had.  Thank you Tim Horton.

People keep talking about this guys size being a problem. I'm looking at it like if he is rated as high as he is at that size than he obviously is a tremendous athlete. Looks like a Dwight Freeny/Shawn Merriman type player to me and if that's the case than sign him. NOW

Those measurables we have all internalized are optimums.

A 6-5 x 320 slobberknocker who runs a 4.85 40-yard dash may well be the dream DT, but there are about 3 of those guys a decade. What were Tommy Harris' measurables out of HS?

The optimum DE measurables may well be long-arm and lanky with a tall frame but (as mentioned above) it hasn't kept Dwight Freeney from succeeding in the pros.

However, you can't be slow and weak. Gotta have something going for you. And, you can't line up 4 undersized guys on the DL and have it work. You can only agile an opponent so much before they stomp a mudhole in you running straight ahead.

Coleman may be a nice piece to a larger puzzle that includes a couple of monster DTs.

This is the first video I have seen of him.  He is very impressive.  The way I was able to locate him for the play was pause the video when the ball is snapped.  He's the one at least a half step ahead of anyone else on the line.  One play he wasn't.  That is a huge advantage for a DE.  If he must be a DT, I wonder if he would be a 3rd down and long specialist his first year?

I guess he's not available on the big weekend of Jan 9-11. That weekend has the potential to be one of the biggest recruiting weekends we've ever had.

He's got an 80 on ESPN.  Many times I like their (more descriptive) eval more than Rivals our Scout.  Keep in mind Mackey has a 77.  Thomas has a 74...for what it's worth.

I like the ESPN evals better also.  They actually give an explanation why a recruit is rated a certain way and give a lot of incite into how the player will project at the D1 level.

Given the results of the past 10 years, I would say if any kid was wanted by Auburn for defensive line, then YES, we want him.  They have always had outstanding line play and men (not boys) on their line.

A little difference in speed, IMO......this kid is fast enough to play LB

If we were recruiting him at linebacker, he'd likely only get faster.  He's listed in the 6'1", 250 lb, 4.8 range right now, if LB were going to be his position at UA we'd likely try to get him down to around 235-240 lb range possibly bringing his forty down into the 4.7, maybe even 4.6 range.  Whether we beef him up and put him on the line or slim him down and put him at LBer, the kid could fill a huge need on the team.

I would almost hate to see a kid that quick off the line moved away from it.  His advantage is having already made two steps before the OL moves 1.  He looks to be a good open field tackler which would be nice at LB, but I really like him at DE or a pass rush specialist DT.

My thing, with this, "Pass rush specialist" is how can you keep a guy with a motor like that, off of the field?

He has Sam Olajobutu written all over him, IMO.......

Petrino has had success with players his size.
Elvis Dumervil ring a bell to anyone?
2005 All-American at Louisville, also had 12.5 sacks last year for the Denver Broncos.
He checks in at about 6' 265 lbs at DE.

Seems like he'd be more effective at DE instead of at DT; he might get smothered a bit on the inside at the college level---DE may allow him to have more space to use his speed to get around OTs

Great Comparison +1

VenturaHog

He seems to have great straight line speed but I doubt he has the lateral speed for LB.
I would love to land him and stick him at DE, he would be a sparkplug for the whole line

Razorod

i think bottom line is he's a football player. you sign him now and worry about where he plays later. main thing is you want him on your team.
Hoping the Hogs basketball fortunes change for the better this season.

Hogbody

This is really who he reminds me of, and he was a great undersized DE in college, and is now tearing up the NFL at LB.

Coleman looks good, but Tommie Harris, WHEW!!! 6'3", 277, 4.7 forty, top 45 or so in the nation regardless of position. He was a beast.
I wish we could get a few players like that!
