That was freakin' good.

Any fan who wears a prison suit with cut out sleeves to a basketball game and looks like that guy should be slapped every single game he attends. It should be mandatory. I'm glad he got bitchslapped by the Memphis player. No telling what he said to the player...he got what he deserved. Wish the player had drawn blood.
I don't want you to agree with me because you're weak. I want you to agree with me because you know I'm right.

Pierre Niles is also 6'8 270 and from the hood of Memphis.  I could think of other characters on the Memphis team to go after besides Niles.

I would say they are more for sure...they are undefeated and #1 in the country. That doesn't happen if the team is full of thugs and has a bad coach. And, majority of the players are from the Memphis area. It's a home-grown team for most part. Excellence always unite multitudes against it due to envy.

No. Article about it in the CA today. They are not going to do anything about it because the fan that was slapped threw something at the players. Good enough for that idiot.

Yeah, if the fan threw something at him, he had it coming for sure. Doesn't take away from the fact that the team is still college basketballs version of the Falcons.

The Realist

That didn't matter in the Detroit Pistons brawl when the fans threw something, so why does it now?

From what I've seen on the news it wasn't just one fan that threw things.  It was pretty bad.  I'm not sure which came first, the projectiles or the slap though.  In Birmingham they are reporting that both teams are being reviewed by the C-USA for the incident.

Among the items seen being thrown were cups (some with drinks included) and shakers.

I agree with The Realist... no matter what happens, you're a player and under the microscope.  They should have known better.

You'd be happy with #2? So you're a TN fan right now? They are #2. Hogs are so far from #2 they can't even spell "two". And haven't been close to it in 13 years. Again, given the choice of the same players for Memphis being Hogs, you'd take them and their coach in a freakin' half a heartbeat.

No.  You might, and want to impose your beliefs on everyone else because everyone else must think just like you and just be lying about it.  I would not.  I don't want Calapari or his brand of basketball and recruiting-  I said the same thing during the coaching search last year when his name was brought up.  I would dig up the posts for ya, but it'd be more work than it's worth.

This game was carried by CSS and the finish was wild.  UAB players and coaches were hacked at the officials at the end - they blew the lead.  Their behavior toward the officials got the crowd going.  Fans were trying to come onto the court, they were throwing trash at the Memphis guys plus all the stuff in the picture.  The cops had their hands full keeping the Memphis guys from going after some of the UAB fans.  CSS did get one shot of the Tiger players in the ramp going to their dressing room getting pelted with garbage and the players went over to a trash can and started tossing stuff back at the fans.  The guy in the prison suit was escorted out along with some others after the cops got the Memphis guys out of there.

No Michael Vicks or Ravens' LB Lewis on this Tigers team. They are good players and relatively good citizens. Calipari graduates 90% of his players in 6 years. Not many Div 1A teams can say that.

You and that other idiot are in the extreme minority...that's a fact. 90%+ of all Hogs fans would take any starter from Memphis as a transfer and embrace him. And if they had hired Calipari, you would have seen rejoicing like you've never seen before among Hog bball fans. Maybe you are not aware that U of A offered Calipari the job two separate occasions last spring and he turned them down both times. Further, Memphis has been in the Elite Eight the last two years and currently is the #1 team and only undefeated team in the country. And when they beat the #2 team in the country this weekend, which happens to be an SEC team, you will come crawling back to this thread and admit how badly you wish you could have been a Memphis fan these last 5 years instead of watching Heath ball.

Go love on Memphis some more.  I have never been and will never be a Memphis fan.  They could win it all and I still wouldn't be.  You are a moron for applying your assumptions that everyone would flip-flop around in their loyalties like you would, chasing blindly after the flavor of the month.  I'm done with you and your small closed mind.

Gosh, I'm sure glad because I don't worship Memphis and Calipari that I'm an idiot.  Believe it or not, I really don't care how many people share my opinion.  I also don't think you are right.  A lot of people don't like Calipari (who is my major beef with being told I would love to have "the Memphis players and coach"--the players are just kids following a lead, I'd be fine with them if they can play ball and learn to behave).  In the end, though, citing others that think differently doesn't mean I'm an idiot or even wrong.  I'm actually quite pleased with the coach we do have, and, knowing what I know now, would pick him over Calipari every time.

The player that hit the fan should be kicked off the team. NO matter what the fan does he can NOT retaliate. Allowing your team to go to a trash can and start throwing garbage at the fans? That has to be the most bush league thing I've heard of in a very long time. There's a thing called karma and it will come back in Memphis in the end. You've got to know how to lose with class but you've also got to know how to win with grace. This is despicable, the NCAA will have to do something to get a handle on the Memphis thugs.

I wouldn't trade coaches but I would absolutely trade players.  They are talented, and I think our players have had more trouble with the law in the past couple years than Memphis (I don't have the numbers though).

The players should have gotten out of there and got on the bus and let the cops and security handle the idiots. Them going at the fans showed a lack of discipline from their coaching staff and could have gotten people hurt including children and others that were not even involved. They should be disciplined by the NCAA to set an example to keep something like this from happening again.

What a great pic. Mempiss and that gangster Calimari are undoubtedly the Miami Hurricanes of college basketball. Thugs led by a certified cheating greaseball. I have nothing but disdain for that program and that head coach. Cheating will tend to get you to the top of college basketball. Just ask Bruce Pearl. This will be an interesting game to watch, between the two best semi-professional teams in America.
