Terrell Hall, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end/outside linebacker from Washington, D.C., announced on Twitter late Monday afternoon that he was backing off his commitment to Ohio State and reopening his recruitment.

Alabama is one of the schools he is focusing in on, as Hall spent a week in Tuscaloosa last month.

Today marks the first day of the evaluation period for the 2015-16 academic year. From Sept. 1 through Nov. 28, Division I coaches can contact 2016 prospects by phone one time per week. Prospective student-athletes from the class of 2017 can receive emails and direct messages via Twitter but no phone calls.

The contact period, where coaches can call prospects, is Dec. 1-13. The next dead period begins Dec. 14 and lasts until Jan. 13, 2016. Here's the full Division I recruiting calendar.

The plan was to have a relatively stress-free senior season. A highly-rated recruit, Robinson committed to Texas and Mack Brown in February of 2012 as a junior. According to a July 2012 story from Rivals, Robinson was 100 percent committed to Texas and spoke weekly with Longhorns defensive line coach Bo Davis...

The fall after committing, she remembered a few Texas assistants were in town to see another recruit. They never visited their star commit.

"I felt like it hurt his feelings," Abigail said. "It hurt mine."

Abigail recalled Mack Brown comparing recruitment and commitment to marriage.

"I think he dropped the ball on the courtship," she said. "He felt like he had him and didn't court him."

According to 247Sports recruiting timeline, Tide defensive line coach Chris Rumph and Nick Saban visited in January, just days before National Signing Day.

News of his decommitment from Texas surfaced soon after and he signed with Alabama that February...

Brown was forced to resign after A'Shawn's first college season. Rumph, who helped bring A'Shawn to Alabama, left for the same job at Texas in 2014. He was replaced by Davis, the Longhorn coach who tried to keep A'Shawn with Texas. And Kiffin, who hosted A'Shawn on an official visit to USC, ended up as Alabama's offensive coordinator in 2014.

There was one major difference with the recruiting pitch Young heard from Alabama. He remembered Saban telling A'Shawn they had a lot of good players in the program and he'd be a part of it. The program wouldn't hinge on his commitment.

"Everybody else told him that you're going be the savior of our defense," Young said. "We're going to base our defense around you the next four years. You're going to be the guy."

A'Shawn went with Saban's plan.

Alabama and Auburn lost SEC games on the same day for the first time since 2012. Auburn lost to Georgia and Alabama to Texas A&M on Nov. 10, 2012.

Alabama hosted nearly 100 recruits for its game against Ole Miss, a 43-37 loss. Auburn lost 45-21 at LSU.
