Nutt never lost to the same damn average team 5 straight years and choked that many times in OT. Nutt was by far the better coach than Bielema.

You miss the boat.  A four team playoff is a championship.  A championship produces... a champion. You seem to be looking for the "best" team.  The "best" doesn't exist. Best does not equal champion.  Best is a myth.
Opinion polls produce... opinions.

Nope. Would still take Bielema over Nutt. Fire Bielema. But the Nutt years were the darkest ages of Hog ball.

Rank 'em....

1. Broyles
2. Hatfield
3. Holtz
4. Petrino
5. Nutt
6. Ford
7. Bielema
8. Crowe

Hatfield had more conference titles, but Holtz arguably had a national title.  I could go either way there.

Nutt had more SEC West titles than Petrino, but BP took us to a BCS game.  Again, that's pretty close.

We are in the Ford-Crowe range now.   Joe Kines did ok but there's not enough data to rank him.  Reggie Herring and John L. Smith are omitted due to the mercy rule.
