Quote from: RWQ on Today at 07:46:07 amUnfortunately the salary cap restricts what you can spend.  I think he would outspend everybody in the NFL if he could.

The salary cap only covers their actual salary and NOT endorsement deals.

Joe Johnson is around quite a bit. Hopefully he gets a role on the staff. I would love to see Arkansas players getting into coaching on good staffs

Quote from: ChitownHawg on Today at 07:18:34 pmWhile I understand what you are saying I don't think the money guys are going to invest in NIL when our wins have been 9, 7, and 4. Trending in the wrong direction. The perception is Odom held his hand through 9 and 7 wins. Then left and he dropped to 4 wins. Now the discussion is CBP will provide that guidance. A head coach who needs a tutor on being a head coach isn't going to gain much trust. With his personality, very likeable, if he turns the trend upward I am sure the money will come in. But not before.

I forgot whose podcast but they made the point that NIL going to Cal will show winning football coaches that it will come to them if they build a winner. Winner being 8+ wins with downs only being 6.

Sam just needs to reverse the trend and get back to 6 wins. Go to a crap bowl and win. That should begin the change in the money people's minds. As I said before, that is my understanding of what money people want. I don't think they have to risk their money until Sam shows he can hit a modest 6 wins.

Exactly!  This man gets it.

Quote from: Oklahawg on Today at 04:41:57 pmThe ROI is to understand giving more now so that Sam enjoys more success means that the upgrade after Sam is that much easier. Calipari wasn't coming here if he was replacing Mike Anderson and the more modest success he had enjoyed. Muss' success paved the way for Calipari.

If anything, rallying around Pittman's program is the easiest path to high-end success for football. Give HY a fighting chance with the next hiring search for football (and, because of the ramped up support, plus solid coaching and talent already in place) to find a top 10 head coach.

You can say that all you want, but people aren't going to rally around what appears to be a lame duck coach and I think potential future hires will completely understand.

Quote from: Sage Hog on Today at 07:32:58 pmI'm starting to think a nil budget of $5-6 million isn't near enough. Time for a salary cap and some structure to this thing.
It was outdated the minute we said it.  Never tell your opponents how much you have to spend.
