Any suggestions?  Going there in Sept realize it will be expensive but if anybody has some idea on a good nice hotel in that area I would appreciate it.  Also any suggestions on restaurant's in that area?

We stayed at the Hilton on 53rd when we visited New York. While not in Times Square it was definitely in walking distance and nearby to Broadway, Central Park and the trains running north and south on Manhattan. I'd stay there again. Great location.

Field, do you have to stay in the Times Square area?

* Editing my comment b/c it was sorta rude, and not necessary, concerning TS.

Well gonna catch a cruise ship close by there on the Hudson and that's where the rest of the extended family is staying.

OK, gotcha. I have stayed in a Weston just a block off Times Square that is really nice. http://www.westinny.com/  Shula's Steak House is in it which is very good. Gallagher's is really good. http://www.gallaghersnysteakhouse.com/ Keen's Steak House is probably the oldest and neatest though. http://www.keens.com/

Hey thanks Boog41 I'll do some research on those you mention and hopefully make a decision.

One other suggestion Field.... For Italian, try Serafina on Broadway at 55th. It's a few blocks up Broadway from TS toward the park. http://broadway.serafinarestaurant.com/ It is where Charlie Sheen dined the night he tore up the suite at The Plaza Hotel. I know of several better Italian places, but they are not in the TS area. Sorry.

Field, I'm guessing this is your first time to NYC. I thought of one other thing concerning a hotel there. Be sure to ask for an upper floor. Anything below ten and you run a high risk of the car horns and sirens keeping you up all night.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square.  It's on the back side, so the noise was non-existent.

It made be a forum, but spelling and punctuation tell a lot about a person. Also, I usually post from my iPhone, too. I don't have a problem with using good spelling and punctuation.

Marriott Marquis is a great place and close to several theaters. It is a huge hotel.

When you hit homeruns, you don't have to run as hard.

Take a look at the Algonquin which is two blocks east of Times Square. Old established place with a rich literary history. They have recently restored some areas and lost some of the beautiful old wood but thats OK.
