GOOD NEWS for Marquette... lose twice, once in a blowout form, all in 7 days, still stay ranked!!!

polls dont really matter in basketball.  I we win 21 or 22 we are in, if we don't, well we will be on the bubble yet again.

Completely and utterly gay.  When we beat up on UT people will be singing out praises.

I could care less.  Polls are for fans.  If we are as good as we think the ranking will come.  Besides non of the other teams from 20-25 lost much if any.

No kidding. I prefer it this way. Roll into Knoxville with a chip on your shoulder.

Oliver

I'm not saying that we should be ranked but when will people get the memo about Marquette being overrated?

Rocky Mountain Living

I swear last week we were ranked 28 in the USA/Today poll..ie. recieving votes ranking wise

Beaverfever

Haha marquette still ranked....NICE.  Oh well if we go 2-2 this week I don't see anyway we don't make the top 15.

hey tenn is 4. it will look really good if we beat them and supposed if we loose. it can be looked at as a good thing i guess. if we beat tenn we will be ranked. also the teams 18-25 all won this weekend so that didnt help.
GO HOGS!

Boss Hogg

At least we know we'll be in next week after beating Tenn & MSU

good point. a loss AT #4 might not kill us, but a win at #4 would *surely* get us in, after winning 5 in a row against good teams (well lsu wasnt, but it was a road win)

NuttinItUp

Ridiculous. If we beat Tennessee, though, we will shoot up there.

Dropkick

We are paying the price for bad losses. Appalachian State @ home being particularly damaging.

What about Wazzou still in there with an 18-5 record? Didn't they have 3 straight losses over the last two weeks. and then came back to beat USC. I like the Cougars but fair is fair! Seems like in basketball, more so than football, once you start in the top 25, it is harder to get knocked out of it unless you really screw up. Like was said earlier, we are falling victim to our early losses.

I really feel that after this last win we more then should have been ranked this week.  Last week no.  This week i'll call foul, we got ripped off imo.  But one thing for sure! If we win 1 of 2 and the 1 is TN, we'll be ranked for sure.

i look at the polls and i see alot of 5 loss teams ahead of us who are not playing as hot as we are,  an texas has for losses and are ranked #11??????  WTH

coach, my back hurts

We cant catch a break.  We beat 3 ranked teams at home, in a row, and we cant get ranked.  NOW, we face the toughest part of schedule, and i dont see us going any higher than we are right now.  If we finish 4-4 we wont be ranked, if we finish 3-5, we damn sure wont be ranked. (and either record is what i predict from here on, the later being the most probable)

Sorry fellas.  Unless we somehow pull a 2-0 record this week, we wont be ranked again this season.  And when we were ranked, we were playing like stuff and couldnt even enjoy it.  Timing just hasnt been good for us in the last few yrs.

IMO, it comes down the AppSt game.  It would be nice to be 18-4 right now huh?  Hell, what about the SCAR game......AT HOME?  19-3 (7-1), are you freakin kiddin me?  We'd be in the top 15, maybe top 10.

Rayzback

Totally agree... tell me I can't or I'm not as good and you'll get double effort.

I couldn't be happier that were not ranked before playing UT...Hopefully that'll make us even more hungry and play with a little desperation!

we still do not have a real quality win, until we do, we won't get alot of love.

I watched them play tonite...they are NOT a top 25 caliber team.  Mid-majors get too much respect.

I disagree.  We beat a VERY solid Baylor team.  Baylor could very easily make the Sweet16 if the braket works out.  Maybe even further.  I think we got VERY, VERY lucky to win that one.

We beat a really tough MSU team and a solid Florida team.  Ole Miss wasnt as good as they are pumped up to be.  If we would have shot even somewhat decent we would beat them by 20. (Of course i'll eat my words on that as we'll most likely get spanked at the Tad Pad in a few weeks.)

I know thats only 3 quality wins, but we have a few other "fairly" good wins.  Mizz is a good win.  They arent good record wise, but i bet there isnt 1 Big12 team that likes to play them.  Oral Roberts is undefeated in their conf and VCU will most likely win their conf as well.  We have more quality wins than alot of teams in the top25.  Two things are against us....1) We're Ark...enough said   2)We're in the SEC...again, enough said

We will NEVER, EVER have anything handed to us just for being Ark and on top of that being in the most hated conf in America.

IMO, the only thing keeping us from being in the top 15 is the losses against AppSt and SCAR......well, not so much the SCAR game, but moreso that we lost to AppSt then shortly after we lost at HOME to SCAR.

you forgot a 3rd thing. we have 3 maybe 4 very bad losses. got blown out by 2 bad teams in PC and Georgia and then App state, and you could even consider a team like south carolina a real bad loss since it was at home. a team like marquette has 6 losses, but 5 of them are against ranked opponents and have 2 wins against top 20 teams. polls aren't about which team is the hottest, it's over the course of the season.

disagree... providence isnt a horrible loss, neither is south carolina -- YET.  sc is 3-5 sec with a real chance to get to 5-5, and finish no worse than 7-9 sec.  sc is still top 100 rpi.

BAD losses:  for sure appy state & georgia, but that's it.

contrast that with GOOD wins:  @baylor, florida, mississippi state, ole miss, mizzou (possibly)
