this is where we will be no matter WHO the coach is.  I love Coach A and I admire that he does things the right way, but our refusal to play the game with Perry is going to cost us big time.  This team with Perry and Gafford next year would be very good.

Gosh, I wonder how teams like Gonzaga and Wichita St. , etc. have managed to be so good without all of those high profile recruits ?
Just say no to the forward facing Hog !

Oklahoma would be awful without their 5 star lottery pick

Villanova has signed a McDonald's AA in 3 straight years. Oklahoma signed one last year. How many final 4's do Xavier, ND, Purdue and WV have in the last few years? Isn't that where we are trying to get?

draftkings33

Moody has a chance to be one.  Hopefully we will get him

Wooderson

Are y'all dense?  Those teams you listed sign way more McDonald's all-americans than we do. Gonzaga Wichita State are propped up by easy conferences.

That's what happens when the HC and staff do the bare minimum to get players. I'd said it before some HC do whatever it takes to get top talent to their school. Others just act dumbfounded when the top talent goes to KY or Miss St.

Doesn't take a McD AA to guard somebody or maybe it does. Is that why we can't guard anybody????????????????????????

their level of coaching is a cut above most teams in the country. But even those guys haven't done it with mirrors, even if it's been without McD's.

So when/if we get caught cheating, you'll be alright with that and support the coach in spite of penalties because he was trying really hard?

Coach A will right the ship with or without McDondalds AA's.  He got UAB into the Elite 8 without 1 single McDAA, he beat a Kentucky team chocck full of them.  Coach A just needs players who will buy into his defensive system, next years young team should be just what the doctor ordered.
I love my Razorbacks, Coach A, Coach M, Coach VH and all the players and fans.

The_Iceman

We don't need McDonald's All Americans to be successful, we just need better roster management from Mike Anderson. Also, avoiding back to back classes like 2014 and 2015 will help out a lot as well.

If Mike continues as his 2016, 2017, 2018 recruiting class pace, we will be alright. However, he needs to stop putting players on this roster that do not fit and end up blocking more talented younger players.

We had one in Renegie Perry. Then his Daddy went and got that fake cancer. Renegie is closer to home so when his Daddy gets fake treatments for his fake cancer, he will be near.

Actually with Griffin and the kid they have now OU has had a difference maker now and then--and Krueger is a very good coach.

That was before he recruited his players, if I'm not mistaken.

Mike has never and will never be able to recruit nationally. I don't know why but his track record speaks for itself.

Do yall know how rare a McDonald's all American is? How many have signed with Arkansas in the past 25 years? Not many. The big thing that needs to change is the one-and-done rule. Once that goes away, teams like Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Villanova, and Kansas won't be hoarding as many 5☆ recruits and there will be more parity in the game.
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is.

We're doing fine in recruiting. If KG hadn't had his heart issue, we'd ALL be pumped for the future. Wait til you see him play.

6 beginning in 93 not counting Al Jefferson.

Those programs will still be stacked with 5 stars McD AA.

when your teams look completely lost on the floor and you continue to run rotations of players out that get you throttled, it happens.

Is it a coincidence that we saw some rotations and more minutes for guys we haven't seen in some time this season and all of a sudden we play better... hmmmm.

Maybe then McD AA want to look here more serious again.

Nobody is asking to go undefeated and run through the tournament like it's a high school state tourney.

Except for Louisville who has really been hurt being caught cheating in say the last ten years? Was Ole Miss really hurt? In fact it took the US Government to do the job on Louisville that the NCAA didn't have the backbone to do. The NCAA is a paper toothless tiger.

Fans think the NCAA has spy's or will get any program doing whatever little violation. And that's not the case.

It reminds me of this scene in Casino where Robert De Niro's character is worried that Joe Pesci's will be put on an FBI black list. Pesci says, "They only have five names in that book. And one of them is STILL Al Capone." Well, the NCAA has five names in their black list. And one of them is STILL Jerry Tarkanian.

its called Mark Few and Gregg Marshall.  Now you get those guys to come to Fayetteville and you wont have to have MCD AAs again.

But I have said this on here before.  People want Mike to have Nolan-like success, but he will need Nolan-like talent to do so.  Nolan had some studs on his great teams in the 90s.  Corliss was the Gatorade National HS player of the year before he signed with Ark.

Mike has upgraded the talent on the Hill and it seems more may be coming.  Its a shame that K Garland cannot play.  He could have helped this season and gained experience.  Hope the kid gets well and lives a long life regardless of whether or not he plays basketball.

As far as RPerry goes, didnt adiddas buy him for MissStake?  That was shoe company $$$ not booster $$$.  Maybe Mike could have asked Nike to match the offer, but with the Feds hot on the trail of that stuff, Mike was most likely smart not to get involved.  But that did hurt to be sure.

If we want to run with the big dogs, the talent level has got to go up another notch.  Unfortunately Mike is not Gregg Marshall and is not going to "coach up" a bunch of 3 stars.   He needs to keep improving the talent level at Ark and find an assistant who can install a half court offense that actually does something besides depend of one on one jump shots deep in the shot clock.

It doesnt have to be MC AAs , but just keep improving the talent level like Mike has been doing and things will get better.

I believe there are only 12 first team McDonald's All-Americans each year. To land even one is tough, much less several.

Todd Day was a McDonald's All American from Memphis. Our other McD AA's were Lee Mayberry, Corliss Williamson, Joe Johnson, Darnell Robinson, Bobby Portis and Glendon Alexander.

For perspective, Calipari has had that many in one class.

I guess it's cause of the leagues they play in.  Not exactly the ACC, Big East, or big time conference.

The 24 chosen for the McD AA game are considered McD AA.

Nolan had at least 2 on every team from 87-99 except one when it was only Corliss in 93.

Yes.  The knee injury before he played at Arkansas ruined his career pretty much.  Too bad.  Was never what he could have been.

Joe Johnson was not a McD AA.  Arkansas has had 14.

Man, the list of players that didn't make it here or left from 1990-1999 is depressing.

Those programs are always ranked (usually top 10-20) always a high seed in the NCAA and have several 2nd weekend appearances. And they are doing it without rosters full of McD's All Americans. We aren't even close to that. I'm saying that is what we are trying to get too.
