It will give us a good idea of what we are and what we need to be in the rest of the season. Having senior guards that can handle the ball, pass the ball and score the basketball is a plus. We have some question marks that can't be answered by playing Bucknell or Sanford. As good of teams as they may be...they aren't a UNC and that is the type team we have to beat at the end

Have to beat Oklahoma first to play UNC.  Looking real good so far, though.

Beat OU and then maybe we'll give UNC the beating the NCAA should have.

Not many losses influenced by officials have stuck with me like last year's against Rev Roy.

We as fans can look as far ahead and talk about matchups we want to see and how the revenge of winning that game would be beyond amazing.

Itís the players that need to stay focused and take one game at a time which I think CMA does a pretty good job of instilling that into our players.

They were really bad last year and really young.  They will still be pretty young this year, but added some good recruits including Trae Young.  They should be better than last year, but looking at roster from top to bottom and factoring in experience Arkansas should be better than them.  I still wouldn't count it as a gimme game though, you never know how guys will respond on the big stage, especially this early in the season, but if we play like we have been we're headed for a rematch with UNC.

We do not need to worry about anything, we are fans and can talk about going ahead and buying our tickets to the final 4 because we will be there!!  I always find it hilarious when fans say "that we should not be looking ahead and just need to worry about the game in front of us" hahaha.  Yah the coaches and players need to be thinking that way, but not us, we can go ahead and evaluate the Mich State matchup in the PK80 finals.

Not going to start any cart before the horse talk, but am stoked about this tournament for many reasons.

3 games in 4 days in a tourney like atmosphere against some high quality opponents is nothing but a plus for this young team win or lose.

Just went out to the website to check the brackets and didn't realize we play on Thanksgiving afternoon and then turn around and play the next day at 2:30 (winner's bracket) or 5:00 (loser's bracket).  Hate that the winners' bracket game overlaps with the football game but may prove to be a nice alternative. Going to be a great weekend of Razorback basketball regardless.

Guys, I'm sorry I skipped over OU. Obviously we have to make it past them, but how can you not look at that UNC matchup with how last season ended and how we are playing right now? I publicly picked Bucknell to beat us back in the summer. I get it. I don't take opponents for granted. But we're playing off the charts and I'm looking at UNC and what that win can do for this program.

The Sooners will be a legit test for the Hogs.  They do have the Freshman guard who is very good but whatís going to happen when he has two good defensive guards rotating on him and have to defend Barfordís slashing style?  Barford and Beard are way stronger than they were last year.  Having to play hard on both ends usually takes a little bit out of a guard which he will have to do.

OUs players, except for one look thin and long but they donít look as athletic to me from what I saw of the Omaha game.  In all honesty, itís going to be a legit test but in the end, our athleticism and speed will do them in.

Carolina:  this isnít the same team we saw last season!  They have some nice young players but itís gonna take them some time.  I predict the UNC game will be the one that pops us into the top 25 because I believe we will take them out this early in the season!  They will be really good later on, but we are catching them at the right time.  This Hog team looks really focused to me,  and they have quit a bit of swagger coming out of the gate!

Shhh facts don't fit that old tired narrative.

Oh come on.  I am a MA fan, but you must have had your head in the holiday punch bowl during our non-conference schedule over the past 5 years.  It seems like every time we have had a chance to prove ourselves against a resume-building P5 matchup, we have lost:  Cal and Gonzaga in 2013-14, Iowa State in 2014-15, Georgia Tech and Stanford in 2015-16, Minnesota and Ok State in 2016-17.  I know there are a few wins in there as well, but it sure feels like we haven't been able to get over the hump.

That being said, this year feels a little different, and I'm sure it has something to do with us finally having some senior guards.  But let's not pretend there is some false narrative floating out there about our December performances over the years.  I hope we have turned the proverbial corner.

Last 4 regular seasons:
Against non-conference power 5 Mike is 4-10 with one (1) win on the road or a neutral site (Texas).
Against SEC ranked teams he is 4-9 with one (1) road win South Carolina.

If you want to make yourself feel better by including wins over a bunch of mediocre SEC teams go right ahead.

A road game in the SEC is a tough game no matter who it's against. Just saying. As a matter of fact any road game in college basketball is a tough game because it's always 5 against 5+3+thousands.

You are moving goal posts now with "SEC ranked teams." Your original claim was P5 neutral or away. Now you've changed it. Also, they did beat Minnesota on the a neutral court in Maui. Also beat a good SMU team on the road in that stretch. He's had success in the SEC tournament two of the last 3 seasons as well. Set a school record for SEC road wins last season. I don't have to make myself feel better because Mike's already done that for me. It seems to me you are looking for things to make you feel worse.

Agreed on this year starting off feeling different.  It's because we finally have something resembling a Mike Anderson team.

My concern in these situations is always that the players are hyped to get a chance at UNC for a rematch that they let down against how to get there, it happens all the time in sports.  Lets hope it doesn't happen here so we get that rematch!

Just looking at the PK80 bracket, the OU game is big because it allows us the road to better opponents.  You avoid the possibilities of having to play Portland, which is a given with a loss to OU, and the outside chance of playing DePaul.  That would be the worst case scenario.  If you beat OU, you face UNC.  Win or lose you play one of UCONN, Oregon, or Mich. St.  All three of those teams have some name value and could help a resume to different degrees.  If we get stuck in the "losers bracket" after game 1, this thing becomes underwhelming to say the least.
