QuoteThere is a coach on Alabama's staff who causes public spectacles in Louisiana when he shows up to high school football games to recruit a player.

Alabama running backs coach Burton Burns is a revered living legend in Louisiana, and especially in the talent-rich hotbed of greater New Orleans. The boosters running LSU and their university's president, F. King Alexander, probably don't have the guts to do it, but hiring Burns at this critical time for LSU would strengthen the Tigers while also weakening Alabama.

That Burns, at this point in his career, should be offered a huge sum of money to leave Alabama and be an assistant at LSU is a given. Coaches who have worked with Burns, however, think he would be an excellent head coach. At 63 years old, he has never had the opportunity. Has time passed him by, or has the right opportunity just never presented itself?
