GO

I could live with this choice, since we are now down to plan  E or F I lost track sometime Wednesday.

Dwight_K_Shrute

When you read the article his accomplishments are a bit more impressive than first thought, especially considering it's Stanford.

Maybe the thing that hurts his perception the most is this quote from the article.

Montgomery does not have an outsized personality.
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

moses_007

Word coming from the coaches hotel is that Montgomery will accept the job today and be announced tomorrow. :razorback:

what the heck does that mean? maybe i am bad with riddles

kawhog

If it is Mike Montgomery I'll be a happy man.  Sure most on here wanted the likes of Bill Self or Billy Gillispie, but Mike Montgomery is about the best possible hire for a big name out there.  I would consider Kruger and Floyd to be the same ballpark as Montgomery.

4 year contract at around $1 mil.  :razorback:

I cna live with this choice, if it is true.  He does bring a little bit of experience and respect to the position.  If he gives us 6 years and we are in better shape than we are now then I'm all in.  ?What tempo does his team play at?  I seem to remember Stanford being a little up tempo.

One attractive thing about our job is that this will be his team, whomever it may be, in a hurry.  Meaning, we lose ten guys in the next 2 years.  He won't be coaching Stan Heaths players for more than a year or 2.

My instincts tell me that this guy will be Mongtomery's top assistant.

I brought this guys name up a month ago and nobody would buy in ...

moses_007

I do too and Montgomery is the man who will get us there.  You guys have been throwing out all kinds of names including Bobby Knight, who is 66 and past retirement age but he's still coaching.  I would be happy to get 6 years out of Montgomery who is only 60.  He doesn't have a current coaching job so we won't get into a bidding war with some other university either.  He's our man.  You will find out he's our man at the presser. :razorback:

Since your Franks guest this weekend, also, enjoy the activities, when will the presser be

moses_007

From what I am hearing the presser will be tomorrow or sometime Monday.  Remember, Broyles has to go to the Masters asap.  :razorback:

Actually, I will be laughing my ass off when he isn't.

Why is everyone so excited about this guy?  Has it really come to this?  It was reported that we were willing to pay the right guy close to $2 million and this is what we have to settle for and force ourselves to be excited about?  I just can't do it.  I think we should have done better.

ballhog™

To me, this guy isn't what I would call settling.
