hibodaux, Louisiana – The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears opened a four match  road trip on Thursday evening, heading to Thibodaux, Louisiana to take on the Nicholls State Colonels. The first set was close early, with the teams playing to a 9-9 tie, before a 4-0 run gave Central Arkansas (17-2, 6-1 SLC) a 13-9 lead. Following back-to-back points from
Nicholls (3-18, 1-7 SLC), the Sugar Bears took five of the next six points to extend the lead to 18-12. Nicholls would pull to within three at 20-17, but that would be as close as they could manage, with UCA cruising to a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-20 win in the set. Central Arkansas would hit .400 in the set as Elizabeth Armstrong handed out 13 assists. Megan Nash  and Haley Tippett each had five kills in the set to lead the UCA attack.

Central Arkansas upped its hitting percentage to .419 in the match by swinging at a .438 clip in the set, and got six kills from Anderson and four from Tippett.

Central Arkansas opened the third set on a 4-0 before the Colonels evened things up at 7-7. The sides would then trade points, before a 7-0 UCA run gave the Sugar Bears a 17-10 lead. The Sugar Bears would hold match point at 24-18, but the Colonels would break  six times, using a 7-0 run to take a 25-24 lead  before taking the set. Central Arkansas hit just .023 in the set, with Kellen Dunn being the only UCA attacker with more than two attacks to tally a positive hitting percentage.

The early competition continued in the fourth set, with the Sugar Bears taking a 9-8 lead before opening things up with a four point streak to make it 13-8. Central Arkansas would step up the defense over the remainder of the set, preventing the Colonels from scoring consecutive points en route to a 25-15 set win. Central Arkansas hit .455 in the set, led by Anderson, who tallied nine kills on 12 swings for a .750 mark.

On the night, Anderson collected 21 kills and hit .378, marking the fifth match in a row that she has hit better than .300.
