Despite giving up 493 yds total offense to GaSo, including 375 yds rushing, A-State coaches said the defense played better against GaSo. Only 14 missed tackles, although 4 of the 14 missed resulted in two long TD runs.

DC Joe Cauthen said he has never had to defend an option team for 81 plays, and 17 series.

A-States offense simply did not stay on the field very long, for good and bad reasons, and GaSo had the ball for 40 of the 60 minutes.

Senior DE Ja'Von Rolland-Jones had his first two sacks of the year.

Next: Arkansas State (2‐2, 1‐0) hosts Coastal Carolina (1‐4, 0‐2) Oct. 14, 2017 | Centennial Bank Stadium Jonesboro, Ark. | 6:00 p.m. Radio: EAB Red Wolves Sports Network (107.9 FM, flagship) Television: ESPN3/WatchESPN

Arkansas State is 61‐ 27‐1 all‐time in Homecoming contests.

QB Justice Hansen ( 12-26-4,316yds)  was at about 85% for GaSo, is 100% healthy for Coastal.

DT Dee Liner still limited with ankle injury but may play. Backup CB Brandon Byner , and backup TE Jonah Hill are day to day. LB Tajhea Chambers out for game.

Although they will take what the defense gives them, A-State coaches hope to see more of the run in the RPO going forward. Junior running back Warren Wand has only attempted 45 rushes this season and has yet to lose you any yards on a carry. He is averaging 6.0 yards per attempt.
