Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick arrested hours after SEC championship game

Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick and wide receiver Jayson Stanley were arrested late Saturday night, hours after the Bulldogs beat Auburn 28-7 in the SEC championship game.

Patrick -- a starter for the Bulldogs -- was arrested on an unspecified misdemeanor in Barrow County at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, and booked into the Barrow County Detention Center at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the jail's online booking log. Barrow County is just west of Athens, in the direction of Atlanta.

According to a report by 11Alive, Patrick was arrested on a charge of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Patrick was reportedly a passenger in a car driven by Stanley, who was charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana less than one ounce after being pulled over for driving 87 mph in a 65 mph zone.

It's the third arrest in three years for Patrick, who was suspended four games following an October arrest on misdemeanor marijuana charges. He was also arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana charge as a freshman in 2015 and suspended for one game.

According to UGASports.com, the school's student-athlete handbook calls for dismissal from the team after a third drug-related offense. Georgia officials have not yet commented on Patrick's arrest.

Natrez Patrick is entering a drug treatment facility following probation violation resolution

Georgia inside linebacker Natrez Patrick admitted he was in violation of his probation Thursday following two drug tests he took that resulted in a positive readings.

In lieu of 30 days of jail time, Patrick will enter into an inpatient drug rehabilitation program in Augusta, according to a probation revocation document. He must complete the program and may not leave the facility against medical advice. The document states that Patrick must "comply with all aftercare recommendations" following the completion of the inpatient program.

As a result, Patrick will not play in the Rose Bowl, his attorney William Healan III confirmed. He is expected to remain with the team moving forward.

Patrick's positive drug test and probation violation resolution came after he was arrested for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana late on Dec. 2. The arrest came only a matter of hours after Georgia's SEC Championship win over Auburn...
