If I were AD I would offer a coach a $13 million buyout that stayed in effect for the entirety of his contract.  However after the first two years, it would be incentive based.  That is to say, that if a coach won thirteen games and he was fired, he gets $13 million.  If he won 12 and was fired, then $12 million.  And so on and so on until 6 wins.  At 6 wins it goes to a reduction of $1.5 million per game with a bottom floor of $1 million no matter what.
