QuoteA&M has played football since 1894 but failed to accomplish one notable feat: having a player selected first in the NFL Draft. In April, the Aggies crossed that off their list. Arlington Martin's Myles Garrett went first overall to the Cleveland Browns...

In 2016, coach Billy Kennedy and the Aggies were SEC co-champions. It was the first time A&M accomplished the feat since 1986, when the school was part of the now-defunct Southwest Conference. A team that featured no NBA draft picks went to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2007 [Billy Gillispie's last season at A&M].

Led by redshirt freshman Manziel, the Aggies pulled off one of the most historic wins in program history. No. 15 A&M knocked off top-ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa, 29-24, marking only the second time the Aggies have ever defeated the No. 1 team in the Associated Press poll.

QuoteOOver the last three seasons, A&M has struggled to carry its early-season momentum into SEC play. In the last four years of conference play, the Aggies are 15-17 and failed to finish higher than fourth in the seven-team SEC West.

Kansas State defeated every "power five" school in Texas in 2016, so a loss to the Wildcats isn't exactly the worst  thing for A&M. But A&M's first loss to a Big 12 team since the Aggies left the conference showed...

A&M's 59-0 loss to Alabama

QB Exodus of 2015: Sophomore Kyle Allen was back, while Allen phenom Kyler Murray was set to make his debut for the Aggies. But even before A&M faced Louisville (and future Heisman-winner Lamar Jackson) in the Music City Bowl, Allen and Murray were gone.

In 2016, Aggies were 7-1 and ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff poll, their highest ranking in any major poll (excludes coaches poll) since 1995. That was before A&M suffered back-to-back losses to Mississippi State and Mississippi, the two worst teams in the SEC West.
