Impressive list.  You can scratch Dodie Dunsen (6-2 G) from Iowa State.  Could be a good collegiate player, but he's only leaving ISU due to some academic issues and will need to be at a much smaller school because of some personal situations.  And Corey McIntosh (6-0 G) from ISU will be transferring back to the state of California to be closer to family.

Outside of that, there could be some decent pick-ups in that group.
Razorbacks, Cardinals, and Cowboys!!  A 30+ year addiction.

I noticed there are 3 players transferring from Ole Piss.  Thats seems a bit excessive, does any1 no why?

HawgG

David Booker was an underrated player coming out of Moss Point, Ms.If he wants to get back in the south then may be we should look into him.

Kevin "The Franchise" Swinton was well hyped as a stud before college. He would fit into Coach P's system. He is kind of a Duke Crews type of PF.

Josue Soto was a very good PG prospect from Miami. He may be in play for Heath at USF and well as Clemente.

Razorbacks fans would love Phil Nelson. He is a taller version of Nate Rakestraw with better handles and he has beyond NBA range. In the right system he could become a poor man's Adam Morrison.Nelson was considered one of the best players in his class out West.

Jonathon Huffman was recruited and signed by Pitino so you know he is talented.A change could do him well.He is 6-11 and we have a spot for him here.

Shamaine Dukes was recruited by Arkansas at one time.Could he be recruited here again?

Andy Kennedy is by far and away the best HC in the SECW.

He basically used 3 guards and covered up all of Ole Miss's weaknesses to make them one of the better teams in the SEC last season.

Coach Kennedy is going after higher caliber athletes then what Ole Miss is accustom to.He wants to play an up-n-down style and the players that transfer might not fit what Coach Kennedy is looking for.

He is looking for skilled athletes and if he has some lined up then those that can't cut it will be told to find another school. That is classic Bob Huggins there.

Impressive list and some great research.

I have a question however--- Do you think that the reason Pelphrey went after transfers so much at USA was the fact of where they were (Sunbelt)?  Do you see him maybe going for fewer transfers here, and leaning more toward the Juco route to get the classes a little more even, then going mostly with HS'ers after that?
Go Hogs!

jhudson84

Sean McCurdy, 6-2, G, Soph., Arkansas

This is one kid that we have to get, Arkansas actually offered him over Jeremy Pargo(Gonzaga) coming out of H.S

These two guys stand out to me.

Denis Clemente.  Wasn't Heath the first guy to truly discover this guy?
His thanks was go play for The U.  Wonder if he'd come to Arkansas...

Obviously there is a huge adjustment for Coach P when it comes to recruiting to Arkansas compared to how he did it at South Alabama.

IMO it is just fine to except a transfer or two from proven D-1 players.

Right now there is not much recruiting going on from Coach P which is a little puzzling considering we need at least 1 SEC caliber PG signed this spring plus we must strike gold with that '08 class.

To my understanding Coach P has made only 1 serious call to a recruit in the '07 class and if that's true that would be disappointing.Even the main guy that covers Razorbacks basketball recruiting is unsure about how much contact has been made to recruits by Coach P.

There is a big AAU event coming this weekend and Coach P should have his staff in place by then.We should know a lot more about the direction the new coaching staff will be heading in very soon.

I said in another post, that it is quite possible that Pelphrey might get the two three star recruits (a small forward and a pg) he signed at USA. May be why we're not hearing much. I believe typical protocol is to allow USA to get their new coach, let him have a chance to talk to the players, then the players can make their decision. It would be easy to assume that the players have talked to coach P and he has told them to wait for USA to get their new coach. If he's pretty sure they're coming, he wouldn't need to be recruiting a lot for the 07 class. But hey, I'm just speculating here.

With regard to the 08 class, it might not be a bad idea to take a transfer or two since it will be such a large class. I'm not a big fan of signing 7 players in the same class. To many chemistry problems tend to ensue. Four to five hs players coupled with jucos/transfers would be best imo.
Hoping the Hogs basketball fortunes change for the better this season.

Wow, the Delks would be nice to have.  I know you would have to take both, but the Delk that can shoot would be great to have.

JackJohnson

It seems like this is the route Pelphrey chose for this years team, as his top 3 scorers, top rebounder, top assist man (and 4 of the top 5), top steals and top shot blocker were all guys he had transfer in from other D1 schools.  Hopefully he can have the same success here at Ark...

actually from what I read, their father has indicated that you would not have to take them as a package deal, from all indications they will be going to different schools instead of playing together.

Jonathan Huffman, 7-0, C, Soph., Louisville = WISH LIST

Louisville has a lot of centers which leads me to believe his transfer isn't something bad off-the-field.

The Coletrain

You can add Tyler Smith from Iowa to the list as well.  He has been granted his release to move closer to his sick father in Tennessee.  Might be a possibility for us, but more than likely he'll be at Memphis or Tenn.  He'll have to sit out a year as well unless the NCAA grants a hardship.
Razorbacks, Cardinals, and Cowboys!!  A 30+ year addiction.

The Coletrain

I'm all about the Delks - BTW.  We need some shooters, and that would add some much needed experience to that '08 class as opposed to having seven freshmen come in or worrying about adding a couple of JC kids and the academic issues that seemingly always accompany them.
Razorbacks, Cardinals, and Cowboys!!  A 30+ year addiction.

Hollywood_HOGan45

that would be very very nice if we could get one of the Delk twins.

Tyler Smith was my 2nd choice at SF behind Thaddeus Young and he was a much better choice then Sonny Weems.
Without a doubt if ARK had signed Tyler they would have been a much better team and all the crap this program has had to endure since Feb. would have never happened.

It is interesting that his dad is the reason why some schools backed off of Tyler.I hate to here that he is sick, but from what you heard he was very involved for better or worse during his son's recruitment.

Smith (6-7, 210) is a native of Pulaski, TN who joined the Iowa program after one year at Hargrave, VA Military Academy. He started 29 of 31 games last season, leading the team in rebounding (4.9) and steals (45) while ranking second in scoring (14.9) and assists (111). He was named to the Big Ten Conference all-Freshman team and earned third team all-Big Ten recognition.

Ray Biggers' third cousin.

Bomis Hawg

Some have stated that Weems hasn't lived up to potential.   When you're a JC guy, you are expected more, I guess.

Weems is a junior and Smith was a freshman.  The only difference, really.  One less schollie to offer after next year.

mbgrulz

i thought weems was gonna be good, but i sure didn't think he was gonna be ronnie brewer good. i think people who thought that were expecting too much. JC guys don't usually do that. weems is good, but he is not an end all be all. we need more 6-6 or 6-7 athlete type guys who can play the SF position.

JC guys don't usually do that. weems is good, but he is not an end all be all. we need more 6-6 or 6-7 athlete type guys who can play the SF position.

Yes we needed another wing forward on last season's team to play ahead or behind Weems.

We are gonna have the same problem again this up coming season with no depth at the 3 and a small backcourt.

yep.

people are screaming for a PG, which we dearly need, but depth at the wing is just as critical right now.

There have been rumors of at least 3 transfers that Coach P is inquiring about and one is Forrest City's Marcus Britt and the others are Richard and Reginald Delk formerly of Miss St.

It seems having Gary Ervin transfer from Miss St may hold some interest to the Delks and Coach P.

None of this is 100% solid because I'm not a reporter or recruiting Guru, but I do gather bits and pieces from those that try and keep up with these things.

The Coletrain

Reginald Delk is off the board - commited to Pitino at Lou.  I don't know about Richard's situation.

Yep he is by for and away the best of the brothers. Heath recruited Reginald Delk only, but at the time they had to go to the same school.
