SERIES: First meeting between the teams

The UCA Bears finished a clean sweep in the Southland Conference
race this season with a 9-0 mark, one game ahead of Sam Houston State,
which UCA beat 41-30 back on Sept. 30 in Conway.

After a season-opening loss at FBS and Top 25 Kansas State, the
Bears have not lost, winning 10 straight games to earn the SLC's automatic
berth in the FCS Playoffs and a No. 4 national seed, a first since UCA
moved to Division I in 2006-07.

The Bears have not finished lower than third in the Southland Conference
final standings since 2010. That includes an SLC title in 2012
when they finished 6-1 and tied with SHSU, but won the head-to-head
battle 24-20. The Bears have been in postseason play three of the past
six seasons. UCA also finished first in the SLC in 2008 with a 6-1 record
but were ineligible for postseason play because of the transition to D-I.
Over the past three seasons, UCA is 24-3 in the SL
