It is part of the annual.  The fact that some people do not do proper inspections/maintenance is not gonna be changed by an AD.

That's what I determined from looking at that AD.
I guess they want a line stating it in the logs... and the appropriate "fix" if you call Scotch Brite a fix. Oh well, they need to justify their job.

they time frame is very flexible, but it is something that i would def want looked at.

both cousins (each have a 180) are subject his mx guy said it nothing more than a bit of labor as the turnbuckle barrels need to be removed, cleaned, and inspected with a magnifying glass. Then reinstalled and the cables retightened to specification, etc.

From what I'm reading it comes from how water hits the airframe on the ground.

If you park outside, water seeps into the tail and due to the stance of these planes on the ground with lots of strut travel, water can run down the cables and stop at the turnbuckles.
