The young man bailed us out repeatedly tonight.  He is a great Razorback.

He shot like this at the Ole miss game I went to last year. He was so hot I felt like I was on fire tonight and last year in The Bud!!
Just sitting on the deck with a cold beer and a hot tequila watching the razorbacks roam.

That was about the same time we started our late season run.  Maybe history repeats itself.

We are going to have to win a lot of games like this.

Hopefully he is back to his old self and out of the nasty cold snap he has been in since shortly after Tenn.
If Auburn is dirty so is Gus. You can't have it both ways. Deal with it.

He was clutch tonight for sure.

Macon scored 16 of our 17 points in the two OT's. He scored 100% of our points in the 2nd OT (11). Incredible. We scored 1 point in the final 10 minutes of that game besides him.

That's what people never seem to see.  Look, I love Macon, just like I appreciated Madden, and like I appreciate Beard.  But Jeez, for everything these guys give you, they adamantly take something away by trying to do what they're not made to do.  I personally think it's completely due to the fact that we haven't had a true PG of note in years.  Durham seemed like he was almost there, but it's almost like he needed one more year to really start to shine.  Macon, Beard, Barford, Hannahs, Madden, and many others, should all be doing what they do best while a real PG facilitates.  It's a drag, because I think we have a couple of real ones coming, but Macon, Barford, and Gafford won't be there to accept the feeds, and IMO we won't see a guy like Barford or Gafford for some time.  We'll have to make due with the great moments Macon/JayBird provide this season, while accepting the atrocious ball-handling choices they will make (Macon gets properly called for traveling more - and gets away with even more - than any player of his contribution level that I've ever seen, and we'll see a crucial call on that in a big game soon, I bet).  Actually Barford is making very few of those kinds of mistakes, which is very impressive considering he started out last year as a superstar of ill-advised passes, while making up for it by being a superstar in scoring and grit.  Love JayBird!!  All that being said, just keep popping those big-time threes, Daryl, and all mistakes are forgotten. :P

There were also several moments where I thought he was going to lose us the game. Very happy he won it for us instead.

Nice comeback for him, but let's not forget he fumbled and made bad plays that turned our lead into a deficit going down the stretch in regulation. It was so bad he just walked to bench knowing he was going to be taken out. To his credit, he relaxed, regrouped and came back in to play some of his most clutch basketball this season.

Polecat

I loved when he got fouled with the Hogs holding a 1 point lead with a couple seconds left. He looked at people in the Georgia crowd and yelled "ballgame. ballgame"
Then calmly sank 2 FTs. Very clutch for the most part and hit some big shots

Lets come back down to earth for a second.. he got hot and made some shots at the end but he was careless before that.

He managed to turn the ball over twice in one possession coming down the stretch. We need a point guard bad cause Macon aint it.

Has to feel great for him. Hopefully he gets his confidence up after this. I feel he has been kind of sulking since getting moved to the bench and Barford is taking over the leadership. Macon just needs to recognize that he can be a star off the bench and can be just as vital to the team especially in clutch moments like in a 2OT game. Excited to see how the next game goes for him. I hop he goes off in BWA vs. OKST and gets lit for the next 2 road games.

In my opinion the Hog backcourt seems to be at it's best when Beard is playing the point with Barford and Macon in the game.

It was like tag team wrestling with Barford and Macon. They tagged out at some point in the second half and Macon turned it on and took over the scoring. It was like they flipped a switch.

Beard is our most consistent ball handler. Macon forces too much and panics.

Yeah, I think Barford was done before overtime, his tank was empty. Macon was relatively fresh, and he made the difference.

I can't remember the exact game, but there was a turning point last season where we got back on track, hopefully this was that game for us this season.

Lately he has. He needs to settle down a little bit and play his game. There was a 5-6 game stretch earlier in the season where Macon didn't have a turnover at all. Something like 30 straight assists without a turnover until he had one in the Tenn game. He knows how to play smart with the ball but sometimes he panics, like you said. The turnover in overtime after we had gotten a stop which led to a Barford foul and gave UGA a couple of free throws was a prime example. He didn't need to try to pass it to Barford there, he could have dribbled it up the court and started the offense himself. He'll hopefully learn from that though.

As a senior there's not much time left for him to learn... Hopefully the confidence from last night will help him be less panicky

Macon, you came back and atoned for those TOs.  Great job after a rough game before that. Love your heart.

ErieHog

He has a shooter's mentality.

It'd drive you nuts with bad looks he took throughout the 2nd half, but when he found the range, it made all the difference in the world.

Shot his way out of a slump, and we needed every one of them.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I was fortunate enough to go to the game last night, and it was great to see the fans around me shaking their heads and rolling their eyes as those 3s were going down.  Macon silenced that crowd several times.

As other posters have said, maybe this game gets Macon back on track.   If Jones can join him, the rest of the season should be fun.

I like the Beard-Barford-Macon Guard set, especially when at least two of them are making shots. My only gripe is that with how we play D, Beard or Macon get switched onto a Big and then skull frikked under the basket too much.

You're right about the defense. That's why the switch to the Match Up Zone last night was big. It kept the guards on the perimeter and Gafford and Thompson in the lane.

Thanks for representing us there last night. I got tickled when I started hearing the Hog Call in the house during a road game. I had to point that out to the family. It just sounded good.

I noticed that. Maten is such a beast, on a team with better guards he would be extremely dangerous.

Only problem is Beard just pounds the ball on the perimeter too much instead driving or keeping the ball moving. This and being flat footed on defense are his 2 biggest issues.
