  • Last night on SEC Now, they showed a mini preview of basketball season and talked about the top "featured" sec games of the upcoming season, Arkansas wasn't mentioned. They then talked about the teams that made the NCAA tournament last season. There was a short promo for those teams including a quick flash of a razorback flag and some of our fans. The show hosts never said a thing about the hogs. At the very end they did a joint interview with south Carolina head coach Frank Martin and Mizzou head coach CONzo Martin. You'd think we didn't even play basketball in the SEC. The disrespect by the SEC Network has gone too far

  • The segment basically only discussed the schools that signed MacDonald's All Americans. It wasn't a very thorough preview. It was more like the SEC saying, "Hey, we are very excited we have more MacDonald's All Americans than we usually do." The game previews were kind of scatter brained and didn't have a train of thought.

  • Well maybe MA and staff should do a better job at finally landing 5 star talent. Maybe the SEC network will think of the Hogs more.

  • Start being a perennial Tourney team and the SEC Network will jump on the bandwagon just like our fans.

There are really only two perennial tourney teams in the SEC right now and that's FL and KY. It drops way off after them so that isn't really an excuse to me.

Sure, that would help. We did land one with this incoming class and that's really all you can hope for when your name isn't KY, KS, Duke, UNC, UCLA, etc. There's only about 25 of em in the country each year.

  • Can we really be disrespected if we haven't been consistently good in 20+ years?
  • #8 by FraggleHog on 25 Aug 2017
  • I learned long ago as a Hog fan, that if you're expecting to get a lot of recognition from the media, then you will be sorely disappointed.  Consistently win and become a perennial tourney team and the respect will come.

Yes 25 a year. So work hard and get one. Work hard and win with that one more will follow.

We had one for 2018, then we decided to play for Ben Howland at Mississippi State instead of Mike Anderson.

Completely different situation. They were trash, then the #1 recruit in the nation committed to Mizzou followed by his brother (another 5* recruit) who reclassified for the '17 season. When you make that much noise the media is going to be all over your drawers (much like when Ben Simmons went to LSU).

This is a different situation than Ben Simmons but yes, it will be a circus.  Now, will that translate to wins?  That's anyone's guess.

Agreed. Different situation than Ben Simmons and LSU... but just used that as an example. The media was hyping LSU as a National Championship contender when Simmons committed. Much to their chagrin, the team flopped and didn't meet expectations.

Yes, agreed.  By the way, Simmons, during that year, was quite the character.  Dude never went to class, didn't want to be there, played for himself and didn't care.  How's that for a star athlete?

as Nolan once said. We don't need McDonald's all Americans.  We'll take Burger king all Americans and win with them haha

And MA should of worked harder to keep him. That's one of the reason's the SEC network ignored us.

  • Can we really be disrespected if we haven't been consistently good in 20+ years?

    Yes.

When only three SEC programs have 2+ NCAAT bids in the last 3 years - Ark, Vandy, UK
When only two SEC programs have advanced in the NCAAT twice in the last 3 years - Ark, UK
When only two programs have been in the SECTCG twice in the last three years - Ark, UK
When only two programs have two 25+ win seasons in the last three years - Ark, UK

Just because the boards constantly predict imminent disaster throughout the season doesn't mean that we haven't accomplished anything recently.

Does it ever dawn on you that factors might be in play that CMA can't control, even if he camped out in Perry's front yard for two years?  He signed Perry's entire AAU team remarkably early.  What more could he have done?  Read about the Ole Miss case.

I suspect that the Perry switch was some combination of family illness, the father being an MSU grad, and extra benefit$.  CMA couldn't do anything about #1 or #2, and he probably wasn't willing to match #3.

We have been solid the last 2/3 years and finished top 2 in the SEC tourney twice in that span.  We make it to the final 32 or better this year, you have to start taking notice.

I'm not sure outside2015 that we finished 2nd. 2017 Kentucky finished first and Florida second. Not sure why you made up this information

We lost the tournament title game in 2015 and 2017. That information is not fabricated. Because there is no runner-up consolation game, that means we finished second over the past 2-3 year span. Florida did not make the title game over that timeframe so not sure why you made up that they finished second in the SEC Tourney.

  • The SEC Network is a 2nd rate station.  They get the worst games during football/basketball season, which just shows their value/worth.  Don't get your trousers in a bunch over anything that the SEC Network spits out....

They do have the probable #1 pick on the NBA draft this year.

Something we have never had happen here in the past, ever.  That will get you attention.

We made the tournament last year, and we'll make it again this year. So I'm not sure what your point is. I mean, are you just bored and trolling?

He won't relax until MA is run out of town, winning, making the NCAA and playing meaningful games in March is important, but being on a promo on SEC Network far more impressive ;)
