Pegues is a player now.

He's been a player since he arrived at MSU; at times, he was the best player on their team as a nickle-back as a Fr.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

The final stats on this thing are a laugher.  I would post them but MSU keeps losing yards.

Passing will end up 8/20 for 39 yards, no TD's and 1 INT for MSU.

I had a problem with Smith's "record run" anyway. Sanders did it when the NCAA didn't count bowl games in season statistics. Plus, Barry played only 11 games. Smith has played what 13?

Regular season should mean regular season and not count bowl games.

thanks guys...that was brutal at times to watch but man the defense rose to the occasion today.

Croom has to get rid of McCorvey if he wants to run any half ass offense.  Basically from all indications, Carroll went to the bench before that last TD drive and told Croom to put him in and he would run the offense into the endzone.

Henig only came in to wake Carroll up, he won't ever start again.

Anyhoo, this was a great year.

"I'd rather lose a game like that than a 5-4 ballgame when somebody walks in the winning run or makes an error" -MSU's former head coach Ron Polk after South Carolina pummeled the Bulldogs 20-3 on 3/23/2007.

Great season bro.  8-5 is a nice turnaround and one to be very proud of.

This was one of those games where you couldn't stand to watch on TV but was an amazing atmosphere there. The MSU fans were live and traveled well!. I believe they sold over 40k in tickets. There was a total of 63,000 which was a new Liberty Bowl record. All the fans brought the cowboys and their voices because they were ringing and yelling all game. Their fans were very respectable and were HIGHLY complimentory of DMAC. Saying "he shouldve won the Heisman", "he's the greatest running back they've seen", "they would take him over any player in the NCAA". Another thing they thought was funny was Houston Nutt going to Ole Miss.  They plan on making a few chants and signs for the Dale next year.

Hail Dear Old State!

They wore 'em down and took 'em out.

Never liked the cowbells (even in my 4 years there) but Sylvester is one bad puttytat!

Beat Ole Miss!

Croomed, you gotta love it, and to think George O'Leary was mentioned as a possible Head Coach for us. We couldn't have a coach that has been Croomed.

Didn't Tubby get Croomed?

I wouldn't brag too much about that game.  They held MSU to 10 points and 7 of those came towards the end and Smith outrushed McFadden against them.

Yeah Smith played in 14 total games. Barry would have had another 220-something yards if his bowl game was counted. Smith was still over 60 yards shy though. It was funny watching the UCF fans come on rivals and try to claim that Smith was better than McFadden since Smith had a better ypc 3.4 to 3.1. Needless to say, they got lambasted by fans from every other school, including non-SEC fans.

I would certainly take DMac over him.  I think some are overstating the case for Smith because it is all falling on deaf ears.  I don't think he's better than Darren but the general reaction is that he is horrible when compared to Darren and that just isn't true.  He's good.  It's like some people have to tear him down in order to make Darren sound better.  Again, give me DMac, but Smith is nice as well.

I would agree HoopS. I think comparing their stats is really an unfair comparison. I don't think anyone can rationally say running in Conf USA is harder then the SEC. That being said, I won't say that Smith wouldn't run for 1000+ yards in the SEC either. I don't think he would have 2000+ though. There is a reason why NO SEC back has ever run for 2000 yards in the SEC. I would have to take McFadden as well because he is a more total player. Smith runs and that is about it.

HoopS

People who understand mechanics better than I say he's got great hips.  He blocks well on the blitz.  He catches pretty well out of the backfield.  His speed is deceptive, because he is a long strider.  He has some wiggle to him when he needs to, rather than always running over backs.

On the next level, I believe DMac needs to avoid some of the hits when possible.  We all love how he punishes the D, but in the long run, that is a career shortener.  He needs to be able to carry the ball with both hands.

The analysts who are saying KS will be a better NFL back (which I do not agree with) are factoring in those things.  And they are looking at the carries KS has had and his durability.  He gets around 30-35 carries per game and has remained healthy.  He doesn't have the speed that DMac has, but he'll make some team a nice back.
