Seriously, what will people have to discuss on here after he is gone? How can we go on without the "Hugger vs Darksider" debates on here constantly? Maybe we can start up the GSD again?

PigWig

Well, we will discuss plans for the 24,878 person celebration next.

Since 1894

It will continue to grow and discuss Razorback sports and other topics on interest.

The first thing I heard today was that he grew up on a pig farm. That's quite a start in my book. And my last memory was watching him hang 70 on Nebraska. Just those two facts are enough (for me to like him). Then, I hear that he's out of the Hayden Fry-Bill Snyder-Barry Alvarez coaching tree. Oh, that's enough for me to like a lot. Then, I hear he's got a 27-year-old wife. Okay, we can stop. I like him.

24,877, but we can let BigDeal serve as a waiter.

I don't know what will happen to Hogville, but I do know that the grass will be greener, the sky bluer, birds will be singing louder and sweeter, the Middle East conflict will cease, and there will be peace and goodwill to all on earth.

Many will simply turn on the next target of opportunity:

My bet:  the new Head Basketball coach, who will have an extremely young team in 2 years, and is likely to struggle with achieving the type of success that Arkansas has enjoyed in basketball historically.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

They will start screaming "Fire Insert Name Here"

Ridiculous.  Many, including me, were strong believers in DMW until he spit the bit...for me in 2003.  I gave the man 5 years to prove his worth.  He failed.  Most gave SH five years.  The assertion that some fans gripe and want the coaches head all the time is ridiculous nonsense.

It's almost as ridiculous as giving a coach with a .500 lifetime record over 9 years, a lifetime contract.  I guess some people are content to underachieve.  Sad.

The DNC has been doing this for years.

Young is no excuse in basketball. It is not like football where there is a serious physical learning curve. The best players nearly every year are underclassmen.

Please see Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr., Tyler Hansbrough, heck take a ride in the time machine and look at the Fab 5.

Those are title contender teams.  Like I said, they'll turn on JP if he doesn't have them in Final Four contention in 2 years.

We will talk about how long it took to get rid of him, How happy we are, Out new Coach and How great the Hogs are.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

people will never be happy...they will find something to B**** about the next coach and the coach after that...We could go 14-0 and win the national championship and they will be crying because someone said this or someone did that and give all the credit to GM or MM.  They will FOI and dig into their personal lives.  If they cant find anything, they will make things up.  Alot of people around here are not happy unless they have something to be unhappy about but they dont realize that because they are too busy trying to make things impossible.

grizzlyhawg

We will talk great about the new coach until the first time the offense has to punt.  Then we will decide who the huggers and darksiders are and tell all the people in attendance of the rest of the game they aren't true fans....of course...

We will continue to talk about Razorback Sports.  The discussion on Hogville is a reflection of what is going on in Razorback Sports.  The current negativity and frustration is entirely justified.  Don't worry about Hogville.

Many people asked a similar question to Rush Limbaugh when Clinton was in office.

What are you going to talk about and how are you going to sustain your listenership if and when a Republican gets into office?

Well several years later, and increased listenership has convinced me that as long as there is a forum, people will show up and debate the debatable.

Someone needs to make a list of outright lies and misconceptions spread by the Nutty faithful. I'll start out, so y'all add to it as necessary:
1. Arkansas fans are unhappy and will gripe about any coach.
2. Arkansas is a crap state that has very little to offer recruits, so anyone griping about poor recruiting classes is unrealistic.
3. The SEC is tough. Real tough. Really, really, really hard and tough. Expecting the Hogs to do well on a consistent basis is just unrealistic.
4. Arkansas fans are just horrible people who complain all the time, so why on earth would any coach worth his salt want to come here?
5. With the exception of those mean ol' people in Springdale, most Arkansans love the Nutt.
6. Houston Nutt does more with less.
7. The forward pass is a fad.

flowers would bloom and the fruits of many would be enjoyed by all. There will be many Top twenty/top ten programs and  legend's would be built. all americans every year, top twenty recruiting every year. Hogdom would be spoke in same breath as other great programs. Children and grown ups alike would re val
at the mere sight of mighty fighting Razorbacks.

Those dark days would be forgotten with each passing win and remembered no more, but mostly the darksiders was exclaim everywhere we have won..we have won !!

HoopS

The people I know and respect will not just turn on a coach for the sake of doing so.  It took me 9 years to want Dale out.   Pelphrey will be given ample oppurtunity to succeed....atleast by me.   Believe me when I say I don't like being for a coach getting fired.   I believe in retaining coaches that deserve it.   I can even be convinced to "give him another year" quite easily.    I would have been ok with keeping Stan, though I'm happy with Coach Pel.

Speaking for myself, I will be in a good mood most of the time.  I will be a hugger and as big of a homer as Rick for the next coach.   The notion that we all want to gripe and moan is BS.  We want something and someone to be proud of.

Karma

It will turn on Pelphrey, the next football coach, or both.

38-36 in SEC play
0-5 vs. GA
0-3 vs. FL
3-6 vs. LSU (0-4 since '02)
2-4 vs. Tennie
1-1 vs. Vandy (gust of wind)
2-2 vs. Kentucky (7 OT win w/ MJ)
.500 against Bama and 1 game over .500 against Auburn.
0-3 in SECCGs
0-2 vs. USC (120 against - 31 for total points)
2-5 in bowl games (0-3 vs. Big Ten)
0 BCS appearances
67-43 overall with 19 wins over the likes of SEMO, Mizzou St., ULM, etc. and 21 wins over
the Mississippi Schools, S. Carolina and Vandy.

Why can't huggers debate the facts?  I don't want a coach here that would be satisfied with a record like this.

I doubt you'll be the only one doing a bit of celebratory hell raising when Nutt is sent packing. The law of averages suggests you have a good chance of not being thrown in jail for it...

Rome wasnt built in a day and this thing is a work in progress...Sure you can put up those stats and hard facts but, how many other teams have 0 BCS appearances?  How many schools have even won a bowl game?  How many teams are 0-2 or worse against USC?  How many teams have lost to Vanderbilt before?  Those numbers dont paint a very good picture...Look at the days before Nutt arrived...Razorback stadium was lucky to draw 40K...If your talking about facts..you may as well say that Nutt as brought the interest to Razorback football to an all time high...you may as well say most of you werent around in the Jack Crowe and Danny Ford days...you may need to add that he has a 2-1 record against Texas.  Why dont you add that he has produced more NFL players than anyone else here in a long time if ever..I dont know?  What about after the Auburn game?  All of the road hogs...were chanting his name.  I was there, if your gonna keep stating fact why not state all of them?

TOM "tbw1"

(1)  Purchasing tickets to a BCS bowl and actually seeing Arkansas play there.

(2)  Discussing a winning SECCG performance.

(3)  Talking about the football team performing like the track team.

(4)  Wondering how the MSM is doing at North Dakota Tech Teachers Junior College.
Well see, there's your problem. What you should be thinking is, what would Harry Rex do?
