heath is only a slightly better coach than him   :puke:

The real Hogules

As of this moment he is NOT our HC, and he's neither as old or as fat as Rick Majerus.

That's about as enthused as I can get over Dana Altman.
Bobby's back and he ain't here to paint!

Ladies and Gentlemen can I please have your attention.  I've just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story and I need all of you to stop what you are doing and listen!

I have heard that he has always had his eye on the Razorback job and has even had contracts with an explicit out clause for it.

Talk about stepping down from Stan. This takes the cake.

speaking of Dickie Nutt, seems like in the past few years he has got alot out of his AState guys. they consistantly beat UALR. I believe they went to the sunbelt conf championship this year. Would you Hogville peeps consider another Nutt boy?

Please somebody tell me that this talk of Dana Altman is pure speculation and BS.  Getting rejected by two great coaches in a row is bad enough but to follow it up with talk of Altman is too much for me to handle.

He has successfully kept ASU from having to spend a lot of money for expansion of the Convocation Center.  Money savings....gotta appreciate that.

I think its time to lower our expectations.  We are going to get a coach, and we are going to do the best we can with him and support him.  We might get lucky and roll the dice on some Anthony Grant type and get a real winner.  Thats what we gotta hope for now.

I just took a look at Altman on Wikipedia. he has a coaching trait of someone that stays at the same school for a long time, 13 years so far. Are we sure he would come? it is going to look bad when we publicly extend him an offer and he too turns us down.

Toad Suck Pork

He's smart enough to show false interest in the Arkansas job to get a raise at Creighton.

If we really do offer this guy, any big-name coach isn't gonna even consider the thought.  I think we keep going after the big-name guys.  At least see what Pitino says.  If he says no, then fine, ok.  But lets not cut our heads off after a couple of offers.  Look how many guys Bama offered before they got Saban.  I'd say they ended up with a pretty good deal.  Keep the faith, and pray we get a good coach.

Nine straight 20-win seasons. That list didn't include this year.

Do y'all seriously think that Stan Heath is a better coach, or has better qualifications, than Dana Altman?

If you're buying a car, wouldn't you rather buy a brand name that has been on the market for a long time, and is tested and proven reliable, rather than buying some new-fangled brand that has just been introduced to the market? Dana Altman is a Chevy or a Ford. Stan Heath was a Saturn (circa 1993)...looked good when you bought it, but it didn't last over the long-term.

I would rather have Suzie Gardner coaching the men's team than to have another Nutt for a coach.

I think you are really over doing it here.

I would believe this analogy.  Stan Heath could equate to a Kia while Altman could be a Hyundai

Why is Dana Altman a Hyundai? It's not like he's had some ragged .500 seasons mixed in with his 20-win seasons. He's consistently won games at Creighton. You really don't think he could win games at the U of Ar? He's at least a Jeep. :)

While his overall resume looks pretty good, his last three seasons don't.  Honestly, not the kind of trend I would want to see associated with our new head coach.

Unfortunately, he is the one who routinely recruits the less, which explains why he is always having to do more with less. That's no compliment in  the college game, just means you are getting your azz handed to you on the recruiting trail in your perspective conference.

The MVC is not some weak-a** conference, like the Colonial Athletic Association, which Anthony Grant's team ran through this year, by the way. The Valley ranked sixth, ahead of some pretty solid conferences...

Altman is a better coach than many people on here give him credit for. You don't coah in D1 for nearly 20 years if you don't know what you are doing. He has turned the Creighton program around. He was offered the Illinois job before Bruce Webber when Self left for Kansas. He was also offered the Nebraska job. He is a pretty good coach. His style wouldn't really fit in with Beverley and Weems though.
