GOOD QUESTION.....of course I want the BEST AVAILABLE, but trust me, YOU CAN'T WAIT to get on them!!!!  YOU HAVE TO GET ON THEM NOW!!!!!   If you don't, you wil ONLY have 3* recruits.....and that is after they get "bumped" because they were offered by an SEC school....  WE ARE NOW DOING WHAT THE BIG BOYS ARE DOING!.... and to be a BIG BOY, we have to do what the BIG BOYS are doing...this BS of "we're waiting so our recruits value our offer and we're vetting"....will NOT work.....EVEN OM is punishing us on recruiting...and they are MISSISSIPPI (49 or 50) for crying out loud!!!  I'm VERY HAPPY that CBB has figured it out and we will be a top 10 recruiting team!!!!

What's your point? Mine was that players who are 3 stars now will likely get a bump with a good senior season. What team they play for has little to do with it.

You fail to understand that a school does NOT have to offer to be recruiting equally hard and be equally effective with a recruit.  Selling a recruit and his family on the program's diligence and commitment to doing things right will make just as many want an offer that much more having to wait as it will impress recruits that you offered early.  If I am a position player, and I see the school offer me and 20 others at my position a year early, I don't think I would feel very special.  It is not when you offer, it is how you recruit!

Unfortunately trying to reason with someone who acts like a brick wall is exactly that: arguing with a brick wall (and dumb as one). Some will never change and obviously it's hopeless in trying to explain that merely offering a kid early doesn't necessarily mean you're going to have a great recruiting class. It's LANDING the right kids by doing your proper homework that will ultimately determine how successful your class is likely to be over the long term.

It's always amusing that some obviously think they have the "end-all" and total answer(s) when it comes to properly coaching and running a team. My only question is why that particular individual isn't actually in the coaching profession themselves (assuming they aren't). And if they are, how come they aren't they plying their trade on the Hill where their infinite wisdom isn't be used to bring the Hogs to eternal glory? I think these are two very legitimate questions that should be posed and answered.

I do think there's been a change in strategy this year.  In previous years, guys like Fisher and Adcock would have probably been slow-played.  This year, it seems we're taking kids now that we'd end up wanting/needing later, anyway.  That's smart recruiting.

One should never have to continually worry or think about something that was scraped off the bottom of a shoe several years ago.

Or he's taking them now because he finished terribly last recruiting season. No one wants to be left holding scholarships and hoping for graduate transfers or folks that change their mind.
