Conference tournaments, unless you really need the wins to get in the NCAA are just meh.  As long as you win your first game as a "lock," your seed isn't likely to change.

Mediocre Mike just put away a team who went to the final four last year. They are coached by a guy who many were openly pining for to be our coach earlier this year. A coach who is considered a very good coach. Mediocre Mike is 7-1 against him in his last 8.

Frank Martin is a tough dude. His teams play just like him.  Hard and tough as nails. We just beat them at their own ugly game.

We should beat this SC team this time of the year.  They aren't very good.  Not much to lose or gain in that game.  Just don't get anyone hurt. 

Beating Florida would make things very interesting as that is a meaningful win and puts us in striking distance of our first conference tournament championship since these Hogs were in diapers.

I think many are more concerned with what we do next weekend than this one.

Last night's win was the one I really wanted. The seniors didn't have a stellar night but the team came together as a whole and got the win. For me, any further SEC Tournament wins will be icing on the cake.

Who you lose is not as important as who you return.  Basically, the only quality player that USCe returned was Silvia.  It was going to be a down year for them the minute Dozier left earlier.

We will be facing the same issue next year the minute Gafford declares.  I would not be surprised to see us a 11 seed in next year's tournament just like USCe is this year.

If anyone thinks there was not a method to the madness last night they haven't been around long or weren't paying attention.  Mike was intentionally resting players and keeping Gafford from fouling out.  When SC would start to come back, Mike quickly put his best players back in the game.

Losing Thomas hurt us last night.  Bailey gave great effort but didn't have his best game for sure.

SC was taking cheap shots at Gafford all night trying to frustrate and foul him out.  When he would get frustrated, Mike would sit him for a few.

The decision to put Thompson and Gafford in together at the end of the game was a great move and might have saved the game...............that and Barford coming up big time with a 30ft 3 at the end of the shot clock.

Having said that, no, he wasn't projected as a potential one and done.

Not really. Next year's team will be seriously young and inexperienced. Even if Gafford does come back, the next tallest player on the team will be maybe 6'9" and that is pushing it. That ain't good and it's why next year is expected to be a down year for the Hogs. Rarely ever does a team lose 6 scholarship players with 4 of them being Senior Starters most of the year and still have a good year the next season.
