Little Rock Suffers First Sun Belt Loss in Overtime

TROY, Ala. – Suffering its first Sun Belt defeat of the season, Little Rock women's basketball took a 76-70 loss to Troy in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Trojan Arena.

The overtime period was Little Rock's first in 150 games — snapping the nation's second-longest streak. Little Rock's last overtime came on Nov. 22, 2013, as Little Rock earned a 68-63 win against Memphis at the Jack Stephens Center.

Little Rock (15-9, 12-1 Sun Belt) had four players score at least 10 points for the game. Terrion Moore recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 13 points, a career-high 10 rebounds and five assists in a game-high 43 minutes. Tori Lasker led Little Rock with 16 points and six assists, and Monique Townson earned 11 points and seven rebounds. Ronjanae DeGray was the fourth Little Rock player in double figures as she finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Little Rock was 27-for-60 (45.0%) from the field, 4-for-8 from three and 12-for-18 (66.7%) from the foul line.

Troy (13-10, 8-4 Sun Belt) had four players in double figures as well. Kayla Robinson led the game with 18 points while Harriet Winchester tallied 13 points. Amber Rivers and Sky'Lynn Holmes put up 12 and 11 points, respectively. Troy finished the game shooting 28-for-73 (38.4%) from the field, 5-for-16 (31.3%) from three and 15-for-20 (75.0%) from the charity stripe.

Little Rock began the game with a 15-11 deficit but held the advantage in shooting at 38.5 percent (5-for-13). Raeyana DeGray led Little Rock with four points as she went 2-for-2, and sister Ronjanae DeGray led the quarter with four rebounds.

Troy went to the half with a narrow 31-30 lead over Little Rock after Little Rock outscored Troy 19-16 in the second quarter. It was the first time in Sun Belt play that Little Rock went to the half without the lead. Little Rock shot 54.5 percent (6-for-11) for the period while Troy came in at 30 percent (6-for-20). Down 19-13, Little Rock used a 6-0 run to tie the game at 19 after two made free throws by Lasker. Down by four, Little Rock went on another 6-0 run to take its first lead at 25-22 after a three by Lasker. The lead was short-lived as Winchester responded with a three.

Little Rock was outscored 21-13 in the third quarter after Troy shot 47.1 percent (8-for-17). Troy built its nine-point lead with runs of four, five and six points each while outrebounding Little Rock 12-7. Monique Townson led Little Rock with five points for the quarter.

Entering the fourth quarter with a 52-43 deficit, Little Rock put up its best quarter of the night by outscoring Troy 21-12 and sending the game to overtime tied at 64. Down by four with 1:52 remaining, Little Rock knotted the game at 64 by scoring four consecutive points — all on free throws. Little Rock was 7-for-14 from the floor, 2-for-3 from three and 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. Lasker and Ronjanae DeGray each led the quarter with six points while DeGray led the period with three rebounds. Little Rock had a 12-7 advantage in rebounds for the quarter.

Troy had the advantage in the overtime period by outscoring Little Rock 12-6. Kayla Robinson led the quarter with eight points as she went 2-for-3 from the field and 4-for-4 from the foul line. Troy capitalized on Little Rock's three turnovers by scoring six points off them.

Yanina Inkina finished the game with eight points, two rebounds, a team-high two blocks and two steals. Keanna Keys ended up with six points and five rebounds, and Raeyana DeGray had six points with three rebounds and a block.

Little Rock's three-game lead in the Sun Belt Conference standings remained unchanged as Texas State and South Alabama each took a loss on Saturday.

Little Rock will now have a week to prepare for rival Arkansas State next Saturday at 3 p.m., in Jonesboro. The game will air live on ESPN3.
