A possum is not a rodant (rodent).  A possum is a marsupial.

Hogs stay at #5 in the D1 poll, with Stanford and UK jumping us, and Texas Tech and FSU dropping below. I'd normally complain about UK jumping us, but we can knock their butts back down below us after this weekend.

2018 Week 6 rankings  (March 26)
The Week 6 rankings have been posted.  Most polls dropped Arkansas only a spot or two from last week; the exception is the Collegiate Baseball poll, which seems overly reactive this season.  The Hogs' next SEC opponent, Ole Miss, is 4th in most of this week's polls.

The Week 9 rankings have been posted.  The highest-ranked teams held serve last week, including Arkansas, so the Hogs' status in the polls didn't change much. The Hogs did move up a bit in the Perfect Game poll, passing Ole Miss, which lost a doubleheader yesterday at Vanderbilt.  Arkansas dropped a spot in the NCBWA poll.

I've updated today's rankings at reply #68 above.  In every poll, Arkansas has either kept its ranking from last week or improved by one slot.  The only missing poll is NCBWA, which is always the last to post.

Ha.  Yep, 12th in the nation with a .308 team batting average, still 2nd in home runs, 7th in the nation in OBP, and 6th in slugging.  The pitching staff is 13th in the country with a 3.09 ERA, and 14th in WHIP.   Pretty solid numbers for a team that I don't think has played its best baseball yet.

HogFansReunited

What I love most is that this team is so balanced. We are one of the best hitting teams 1-9 and our pitching is starting to solidify. Our fielding has started to look like what we all expected as well. This team is the total package and I guarantee no one wants to be matched up with us in our regional.

Did anyone catch Rally Cap on the SEC Network Sunday?  When asked who was the second-best SEC team behind Florida, they selected Ole Miss because of "how they're playing right now".  Maybe I was catching a signal from a parallel universe because I could have sworn the Hogs have won 8 of their last 9 and the Rebels have lost 4 of their last 7.

They also talked about how good Ole Miss was in mid-week games, which in my opinion is one of the least important measures of most any top NCAA baseball team.

This past weekend might have been the best so far for the pitching staff as a whole. The bullpen looks like it is finally making strides. Did Reindl not pitch at all last week? If so that is odd.

I think there is an argument to be made between us and OM, but as you noted the reasoning was flawed.  OM might have the better pen, but our offense and top 3 starters (if Campbell is healthy), are clearly better.  OM is a good team and the only thing they have on us currently is a razor thin series win on their turf.  Played at Baum, that's a very different result.  We do need to get up a little better vs. the mid-week scrubs.  It will be important come regional time, but is definitely not indicative of anything.

Our chance to climb back up starts tomorrow.  We need to at least split with TT.  A 2 game sweep would be big momentum and RPI wise.

Need a 4-1 or 5-0 week to stay firmly in the national seed discussion.
