Yes, their joke is that if TN ceded memphis to Ark, Mississippi, it would raise the IQ of both states. Ouch.

Y'all realize that this sort of stuff is basically no lose from the ad-buyers point of view.

If we put it together next year and go 9-3, and the basketball team makes the Sweet 16, he can pound his chest and say it was due to him getting them focused.

If we blow two second half leads and stumble to 7-5, and the basketball team is in the NIT, he can pound his chest and say he told everyone so.

No really any different than Hogville, but more expensive.

You actually think voicing your concerns to Long will make a difference? As long as the finances are solid he could care less what fans think.

I feel like we can overcome this type of ADversity with hard work, determination, dedication, and leadership at the highest level of the program.

This is so stupid. First off, he probably SHOULDN'T listen to us because clearly we don't know how to behave. And secondly, I would say Mike Anderson's hiring was a direct result of him doing what literally everyone wanted him to do. Had he hired ANYONE else, people would have pooped bricks.

So don't say he doesn't listen. It's just not true.

The governor appoints the board of trustees, who have control over sports at the UofA. The government is already involved.
Yes, but certainly in an indirect way. Besides, all others have already pointed out the governor has a heck of a lot more important and critical things to occupy his time. One other thing: I seriously doubt many, if any, governor would base his appointment(s) to the board of trustees based on their views on sports.

Stupid thing for this guy to do but if his numbers are right he has got a point.  An ad or plane will not help.

We've beaten the darn out of all 3 situations - Long, BB and Anderson.  What is there left to say?

Some fans are feeling "trapped".  Not saying they should be or the situation is nearly as dire as they believe.

no one is trapped, they are free to spend or not spend their money on hog games, donations, etc.

My question is what is the goal, to get them fired and replaced, ok, by who? Firing people is easy, it is the new hire that is always he tricky part.
People ask me what I do in winter when there is no baseball.  I will tell you what I do. I stare out the window, and I wait for spring.

Long is paid over $1,000,000 a year, & you are darn gone right he shouldn't listen to us. He should have hired the best person for the job, not who Hogville(fans) wanted.

Long's 6 most significant hires as AD have been Bobby Petrino, Jessica Dorrell, John L Smith, Mike Anderson, Bret Beilema, and Jimmy Dykes.

That's a horrible resume, and the single reason why I haven't advocated the firing of Bielema & Mike Anderson.  Namely because Jeff Long, unfortunately, is still the man to chose their replacements.

Note: I believe the ad was destructive and served no purpose

I love how you can see write through someones BS and see an agenda.  You can hate long all you want, for whatever reason you want, but the man does deserve some credit.

He did bring Petrino here who at the time was known as being one of the best offensive minds in the game.  Before Petrino everyone being thought to take over the football program was on par or below Nutt.  Long is not to blame for any of how Petrino's career at Arkansas ended.

He did Bring in Mike, who at the time had a top 20 resume in NCAA rebuilding a program and getting them to the tourney.  Any AD in Long's position would have loved to have Mike on the finalist list of possible hires.

Bielema was considered a top 15 coach in all of college football at the time of his hiring.

Evaluating factors in Long's job are actually putting him in a very highly though of position .  It seems as if only the guys who watch from the luxury of their butts on used couches are the one's that think he sucks.  Until the donors, season ticket holders, and real money fans start to think differently, he has been able to make this program even more profitable than it already was and keep the revenue trending up and expenses under check in an atmosphere of many athletic departments spending more than they make.

If you are going to criticize Long for the hiring of Dorrell, he should get credit for the hiring of Dan Enos. Since he ultimately had to approve of both.

Eh... I think the way it was written didn't really do the purpose justice, and takes away from the credibility of the argument. However, I do applaud the fanbase voicing their discontent with mediocrity in some... public fashion. The powers that be need to have a sense of urgency to right the ships, because the natives ARE getting restless, and rightfully so. Their recent tweets, especially Long's, didn't necessarily incite a lot of hope... quite the contrary from what I have witnessed.

Fair enough, the hiring of Enos has been the crown jewel of the Long/CBB's era. And the fact we have been able to retain him, is their 2nd best achievement.

It appears to me that the ad maker was accurate in his numbers and pointed in his truths.  And I agree with the ad, however, it sure came out at a bad time for the program, shortly before NSD.  I also agree with another poster who pointed out that it appears Long sees no problems here and thinks all is well.  I suspect Long is way more the problem, he should have taken both Anderson and Bielema to task for their failures way before now and we likely would not be having these fire the coaches conversations.

Though many will not agree with me, the Arkansas programs are better than these 2 coaches have shown them to be.

What does Long deserve credit for?  ??? His record speaks for himself.

His tenure has been an absolute  failure so far.  What has he done that would mitigate losing SEC records in both the football & basketball programs?
Is there any other SEC team than has losing conference records in both basketball & football since he was hired, or have we become the bottom of the barrel?

He was hired in 2007, it is now 2017 and we have nothing to show for it but nearly a decade of misery.

One thing that never made sense to me...many people claim Bobby Petrino was an absolute disaster for the program that we are still paying for and will so for another 2-3 years.

If that is your stance, it doesn't make logical sense to say that Jeff Long has been an excellent AD, considering he is the one who hired Petrino. Talk about a have your cake and eat it too stance.
Thanks for the F Shack.
