That was a cold game but I've since spent two weeks working outside in Montana in January and pretty much an entire winter working outside all night in a rail yard in Ohio

God bless that last game there was awful. We were surrounded by folks from Northeast arkansas. The wimmin' folk were literally pissing themselves because they were so drunk/didn't want to wade out of the stands to go to the bathroom. By the end of the game it smelled like piss and booze.

We were OK until the fat guys on our right left at halftime.  The wind took over and the rest is history. Coldest I have ever been, ever! Even dressed for it. Beyond deer stand cold. Never again. :puke:
the fat guy to my right left in the middle of the 3rd qtr but came back with 10 min left in the game! ☺️

If in fact we get a Liberty Bowl invite, dollars to doughnuts it will be 60 degrees at kickoff (I hope.) That truly was a miserable night with the wind. We sat right beside Barry Brandt and he only had on jeans, gloves and a sweater. I figured he would have at least checked his own forecast before leaving Little Rock to maybe dress better for the occasion.

I would go with a 45. More knockdown and less chance of collateral damage.

Studies show that shot placement is more important than the mythical knockdown power. Its also the reason the FBI is switching to 9mm back and why the military isn't truly considering the .45. I still carry a .45 tho

Eddie Money was awesome that night!

Sarcasm?  My ears might have been falling off but that was some of the worst sounds I have ever heard, and I think he was lip syncing ha. He was turrible.

But that was the coldest i've ever been in my life, colder than hunting in the snow. Couldn't drink enough special hot chocolate to warm me up.

Speaking of the voting for bowls on wholehogsports.  I understand how people might choose the Liberty over most of the listed bowls.     But, over a Florida bowl(taxslayer)!!!????    Really???!!!   That's insane!!  But, I was never one that several years ago would rather go to the cotton than the citrus which was a lot better bowl.  It amazes me how people would rather go to a lower bowl because of proximity.  These players deserve the best option available.

wimps.

Coldest I've ever been was on a winter survival training course up in Alaska , we were there for 2 weeks and the temperature hovered right around -20 degrees actual temperature with a wind chill factor of about -40 below.

Even with the very best gear that the US Army could provide the cold was mind numbing, I'm talking about you literally could not be outside of your tent for more than 30 minutes then back into the "warm" tent for at least an hour before your next trip out.

That was over 15 years ago, and I can absolutely still recall with clarity exactly how cold I was up there. The '09 Liberty Bowl was mildly uncomfortable compared to that.

Yup. except that unless I'm misremembering the training station is actually SOUTH of Wainwright. was stationed at Wainwright for two years and then sent back up there for training later in my career.

Black Rapids at Big Delta/Ft Greely is the one south unless you guys ventured out into the Tanana Valley.  I remember a couple of groups venturing up to 2205 and 2211.

We had some radar work at Clear AS.  It took a couple days back at Elmendorf before my balls stopped hugging my kidney.

No, Black Rapids is the one I spent time at, and they trekked us out to some God forsaken frozen darn hole. Soooo cold. I remember first day we were there, a demonstration they put on. Set a canteen of water out and within thirty minutes it was frozen.

I always heard it called the Purple Church. Was not a very good place to take your family. City closed it down as a public nuisance.
Overton Square has re-emerged as a destination with live music and great restaurants. Plenty of fun spots to go downtown. Always be aware of your surroundings and be careful. Stay away from Beale Street. WPS!!

From the time I was about 8 years old until I was damn near old enough to drive, my brother would take all of us kids to the Liberty Bowl every year. I saw Art Schlicter (Ohio State) and Purdue's Mark Herrmann, to Joe Paterno, and Tulane (yeah I know), my Uncle Bear's Bama team....just about every 7-4 team from 1977 through 1984.

The Liberty Bowl would be great.

Hey man, I think we spoke to each other at the Cotton Bowl back when we played Oklahoma. That was a cold ass game. But from what I understand, the Liberty Bowl against East Carolina was freezing. How does that compare?

I felt bad for the fans in the south endzone. They had to have been hit with -20 degree temps with that wind.

I think would've been me and my family that night....coldest game I have ever been to and I've attended football games in South Bend, Indiana and Manhattan, Kansas in November!!!
