Quote from: ShadowTheHedgehog on Yesterday at 10:40:26 pmI think some of these guys are probably related to some of our posters in other forums. If they lose one of the next two games they will be ready to flush the season down the drain.

I was done there after we beat them in extra innings of Game 1 when Skenes pitched.  They were ready to flush that season done the drain.  The overreaction was ridiculous.

Sure was a sight to see watching what Grant Nelson did tonight. Very talented player.

Lack of NiL cost us both Grant Nelson (24 pts, 5 blocks tonight vs #1 UNC)
and
Ron Holland (20ppg in G0League).

Sigh.

Quote from: Kyback on Yesterday at 11:43:16 pmImagine what we might have been with Grant Nelson. We probably did not get him because we had a big man who we thought had similar skills.

I'm not sure, but IIRC it was more of a bag man problem.

I recall Brazile was actually actively talking to Nelson about playing together.

Another player from tonight's game that would have been nice to get to the hill was Harrison Ingram. We recruited him out of high school and were one of his top schools. I'm not sure if we went after him in the portal or not.

We got to get these kinds of players to the hill this off season.

Quote from: donnie on March 27, 2024, 09:38:14 amTate also got better
The point being discussed was about Musselman "developing" players.  Muss did not develop Tate and the other guys that I mentioned.l  They were already developed.  Tate came to Arkansas from Northern Kentucky as a Graduate Transfer.  Tate was rated by NBCSports.com as the 5th best Graduate Transfer in the nation.  247Sports.com had him ranked as the 8th best Graduate Transfer.  CBSSports.com rated him as the 10th best Graduate Transfer, and ESPN.com had him rated as the 15th best Grad Transfer.

In the Horizon League he made the All defensive team 3 straight years. In 2020 (his Senior year at Northern Kentucky), he was the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year.  Also in his Senior year he was the Horizon League Tournament MVP and made the All Tournament team.  In 2019 he made the Horizon League All tournament team, and in 2018 he made the conference All Freshman Team.

None of that sounds like an "undeveloped" basketball player.

In the season opener at Arkansas, Tate only played 17 minutes, but scored 12 points, had 6 assists, 5 rebounds and a steal.  He averaged 13.9 points per game in has last season at Northern Kentucky, and averaged 11.0 points per game in his single season at Arkansas.

Stanley Umude came to Arkansas from South Dakota (Summit League). In his Sophomore and Senior years there, he made 1st team All Summit League.   He also led his team in scoring, which was 9th in the NCAA.  His 21.6 point per game average was 2nd in the league. He also made the All Tournament Team.  His career high in scoring was 41 points, and he scored more than 37 points in a game twice.  He was 3rd in the conference in defensive rebound average with 6.48 per game.  In his junior year his 1.3 blocks per game was 2nd in the league.

For his college career at South Dakota (101 games), he scored in double figures 71 times, and led his team in scoring 40 times.  Led his team in rebounding 36 times. From his freshman to his sophomore season his point per game increase was 13.3 points, which led the nation.

As a sophomore at South Dakota he scored a season high 32 points.  Also that sophomore year he scored 28 points at then #1 Kansas.  Bill Self commented after then game that he thought that without question that Umude was the best player on the court that night.  Doesn't sound like an "undeveloped" player to me.

Part of the purpose of getting transfers, is to get players that are seasoned, developed, and ready to play.  Give Muss credit for what he does, but quit making stuff up.  Development of players is NOT a Musselman strong suit.

The other players that I mentioned also were NOT developed by Muss.
