007 License To Squeal

Herring seemed to be trying to go onto the field toward one of our defensive players.  The ref pulled herring back by his shirt tail.....It was funny stuff.

Show me a school that has rational fans and I'll show you a loser.

I think he made Chris Vaughn cry during the Alabama game. If he didn't, he certainly put him in his place.

I like him, Herring is the kind of Mad Man we need!!!!

I'm trying to give Herring the benefit of the doubt, but it gets harder each week.  Being intense, fiery, and tough is one thing.  Acting like you are insane is another.  There have been a lot of coaches who are tough, but still have the respect of their players.  It seems to me none of the players have any respect at all for Herring.  Screaming, yelling, and acting like a fool doesn't accomplish anything if you can't make it have a purpose and  you do it constantly.  To me, tough coaches are ones who can just give a player a look, never say a word, and have fear hit the player immediately.  (Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick).  You never see Belichick yelling, but I assure you, even pro players are scared to death of him.

Now, having said that, I have to admit seeing him clock HDN would make me smile a bit.    ;D

I would be willing to bet that if you watch said coaches early years as coach you would see some yelling, although at times I would agree that Herring seems as much a drill instructor than a football coach.. also you have to remember coachs for years have used their mean ole assistants to work the kids so that the head coach can play big papa if ya know what I mean. Also I expect he would not be near as bad if he didn't think the team  is as bad as it is  playing... if nutt lets it expect some schollies to be pulled... next spring could be a good time to be an overachieving walkon
