Monday Morning Quarterback / Re: College Football Playoff c...Last post by Jonbo - Today at 05:57:13 amI can concede there was a certain charm in waiting to know if your team would be invited to a bowl and which one. I can't say I miss not having a for-certain overall national champion beyond that decided by a committee none of us here would ever be part of. Having to argue all off-season about who really was the best team last season, people have nostalgia for that? I went into an actual out-house a few times as a little kid. I find it neat I got to experience a tiny bit of the more primitive than today past. I won't say I want it back.

In your scenario Cal would have 7 players and walkons. He may go to 13 but he will be closer than 10. Why? Because things happen. I don't disagree with Calipari about his opinion that 8 or 9 key players are all he should pay so-called "NIL" money. And I agree with his stated reasoning for that opinion. However, I see no reason not to award 13 scholarships to players every season. As you point out, no coach can ever predict injuries or circumstances that may lead to any given player's unavailability during a season. More importantly, if 13 college basketball scholarships are available, I see no reason not to provide 13 players with scholarships. 3

ARHoopScoop's Basketball Recruiting / Jaxson RobinsonLast post by RaiderHog1979 - Today at 05:23:03 amDid anyone see last night he tweeted himself in a Hog uniform and it said committed on the picture. It started getting dome traction amongst others and then he deleted it.

ARHoopScoop's Basketball Recruiting / Re: Kasean pryorLast post by raz1965 - Today at 05:22:11 amMy way of thinking is a commit is a solid deal, sometimes I think the media puts out this silent commit deal when the sources are leaning heavy toward a recruit but the recruit is silent toward the media. The assumption is then said player is a silent commit.

Monday Morning Quarterback / Re: Who did Drink bribe?Last post by TheGrove68 - Today at 04:14:26 amQuote from: bennyl08 on May 10, 2024, 01:17:36 amI think we've beaten a lot of the arguments to death, but there's one thing you mentioned that I think is worth expanding on. The 'other' players. Coaching is a huge component.... Hence I put forth GP/Drinks talent evaluation's and development. We could discuss X's and O's and over all schemes and systems and what is better or worse... but in reality if coaches Recruit to their System and they hire the right guys as assistants then that stuff usually is pretty equal on Saturday afternoons with this level of professional coaching. I do agree matchups can are a huge reason for a teams success.... no doubt about that. It's extra important with the talent level's are basically equal. I agree our DL and QB has been a Deciding Factor in Mizzou record versus the Hogs..... GP's Mission statement from the Get Go was We are always going to Have top Flight Quality QB's and Top Flight Quality DL to get after the Opposing teams QB and make him uncomfortable.... Odom struggled with that as he wanted to mimic the Blue Bloods with DE who could excel at both the Run and Pass rush, like Mizzou could recruit those guys. Thank Goodness Drink hired a Havoc coach in our Previous DC and this DC. And as you can tell we have recruited well for those edge guys of late. I'm not ignoring the Pro Days but no every player attends and again it's not like Ark. Numbers show a much larger talent level than Mizzou... production is what counts in the end as some Players wring out every ounce they can from their talent pool and others don't. In the End Mizzou and Ark. sends about the same many players to the NFL. Maybe we are on the Same page just looking at it from a Different angle..... When I say Mizzou has been a near equally talented Program and Better team I'm referring to the Whole 9 yards. We have better developed players and have filled in with the top flight players at about the same level as Ark. GP and Drink have coached Mizzou up those players to ruin their systems and the talent they acquired fits into their system very very well. And on game day both of them have done solid jobs of coaching. 8

Quote from: Tusks on May 07, 2024, 03:36:35 pmWith Wagner and Burks that may be it. That's a really nice roster of 9 new players and one hold over from last year. Remember two years ago, when TB and NSJ were hurt and Devo took some personal time. In your scenario Cal would have 7 players and walkons. He may go to 13 but he will be closer than 10. Why? ARHoopScoop's Basketball Recruiting / Re: $2 million NIL dealLast post by AwholeHog - Today at 03:00:47 amUtterly ridiculous. Somebody needs to tell Washington that you don't have to pay anywhere near that much for the 43rd ranked TP player. We've got three rated higher and it will probably be four. We have one that left rated higher (Tramon Mark).
I read most of the ESPN report on it and they seem to believe the numbers but man, if they're accurate this is the worst case of over paying I've seen so far. I'm sure someone will try and top it. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-transfer-portal-rankings-2024-great-osobor-mw-player-of-year-commits-to-washington/ 10
