This will not make you rich, but, it is a fun hobby.  I have personally done this.

1.  Go to a large bank.
2.  Ask these 5 magic words: "Do you have half dollars?"
3.  Purchase as many rolls as you can.
4.  Take them home, and search for:

Kennedy Half Dollar 1965-1970 (40%) .1479 oz of silver 3
Kennedy Half Dollar 1964 (90%) .3617 oz of silver
Ben Franklin Half Dollar 1948-1963 (90%) .3617 oz of silver
Walking Liberty Half Dollar 1916-1947 (90%) .3617 oz of silver
Barber Half Dollar 1892 to 1915 (90%) .3617 of silver

Each roll will cost you $10.00.  If you are lucky, you might find a few higher silver content coins.

Your risk in this "mining" is zero.

It's a fun hobby.

Read about this.  There is actually a whole section devoted to it on a message board I've visited.  Have you actually found silver?

Yes.  I bought 3 rolls from my bank.  One roll included a half-dollar valued at about $4.00.  Thus, The $10 roll was actually worth about $14.00.

Like I said, it's a hobby.

Sweet.  I've been thinking about doing it and just haven't got around to it.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
