Actually it was Schmidt, McLelland, and Collis.

Charlie, did you find out if it was true that the reason we got the Regional was because Stillwater's hotels were booked up?

If so, we may have to start placing a little more importance on the SECT.

True, Nick was the starter

Can anyone tell me again why OSU got a 1 seed over us. >:(  Just compare the stats.  ???

Yeah, that's been confirmed by Larry Templeton, the director of the committee.

Honestly I think its because the NCAA had to come up with some way of not letting the SEC have 5 #1 seeds.  That's the only thing I can think of. Ole Miss' run in the SEC tourney probably bumped us from a #1 to a #2.  If Ole Miss goes 1-2 or 0-2 in the tourney they would be a #2 seed and us a #1.

hogfan064

Hogs record against #1 seeds 8-6

Alabama 3-0
Kentucky 2-1
Ole Miss 1-3
Georgia 1-2
OSU 1-0

The reason given for OSU being a #1 is that they were 2nd in the B-12, and we were lower in the SEC....not much lower, but lower.

Our showing in the SECT did not help us.

hogfan064

Arkansas probably deserved a #1 seed over Pepperdine also.  And maybe even Kentucky.  Hogs did take 2 of 3 from the Cats and we had better OOC wins.  UK did finish 2 games above us in the SEC, but they didn't play Alabama this year.

3kgthog

We did not deserve a #1 seed. Even the NCAA guy said we only got a regional because Stillwater didn't have enough available hotel rooms. Sure, you can look at our good wins. But look at the bad losses. Series losses to bad teams like LSU and Florida don't help. Those bad non-conference losses don't look stellar either. Then there's that flame out in the SECT.

Compare our RPI, Record against RPI top 50, and record against regional teams to #1 seeds Pepperdine and Oklahoma State.

Oh and Oklahoma State lost twice to Oral Roberts this year and was no hit by Arkansas.

hogfan064

And yes Arkansas had some bad losses, but look at Pepperdine losses

1. UNLV a 28-30 team
2. 2 losses to SD State a 23-35 team
3. A loss to Dartmouth a 20-17 team with a RPI of 171
4. 2 losses to a 24-32 Loyola Marymount team
5. 2 losses to a San Francisco team with a RPI of 55.  Yes, USF made the regionals, but LSU was a better team than them
6. Loss to Gonzaga a 27-24 team with a RPI of 121
7. Loss to UC-Riverside a 27-24 team

The Hogs don't have this many bad losses
