Have Frank Broyels do whatever it takes, and that means $$$, but Arkansas has plenty of it, and offer Gene Chizik a head coaching position.  He's not going to wait around till Mack Brown retires and I can promise you after next year Chizik is going to make a move, Id rather see him at Arkansas than another Big 12 team, or worse someplace like Miami, or Florida State.

Ok Gene, I'll pass the word on to Frank...  ;)

While Gene will make someone a dandy coach we'll save money and time by promoting Gus Malzahn in the near future. Plus, it won't disgust our fanbase quite like hiring a UT coach. I always root for UT...unless they play the Hogs. Its a love/hate relationship.
I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater. Saving money is not my concern. ;)

This year will tell only part of the story about Malzahn.  I believe that he will be a good college coach, but we don't know how soon.  His offence will have bright moments, and moments that it looks like high school vs. college.  I think that the jury's still out on the Malzahn for head coach position.  The assistant from Texas is gonna get a chance to be HC somewhere, and it will happen sooner rather than later.  Our only problem is that we will probably have to pick either one or the other, because we won't get Chizik and keep Malzahn.  That's why this year is so important with regards to Malzahn's coaching ability, and when you think of that, you wonder if we'll get the chance to really see what Malzahn can do?

I think one things for sure in this matter.  Malzahn is now the coach on the hill with the most clout in his corner.

I am not familiar with Malzahan so I can't debate the Chizik vs Malzahan issue, all I know is with Chizik you get several things.
1.  A proven record. Turned 2 average defenses into two real good defenses, Auburn-Texas.

2.  Will re-open the Texas recruiting pipeline to UA.  Enouph said.

3.  Instant National Recognition- Chizik was well known after what he did for the Auburn defense, add what he did for UT and a MNC= high school players and coaches are very familiar with Chizik.  Malzahn????????

4.  Did I mention what Chizik would do for recruiting out of Texas,,,instant increase of top Texas athletes would start considering UA.  With UA facilities, the "BEST IN THE NATION" Why is UA almost void of the 4-5star Texas high school recruite, simple, kids want to go where the can win a MNC and Im sorry but with Houston Nutt it wil NEVER, NEVER happen.

JFB won't hire a HC coach w/out HC experience again.  Now I don't necessarily like that....Mark Ritch @ Georgia, Flubber @ Tennessee, Wiess @ ND etc etc but after the Crowe year(s) LOL he won't do it again.  He'll make GM go off and become a HC before he's elevated to Hog HC....wait and see.

I think Chizik is one hell of a coach and the Hogs could do a lot worse but w/out HC experience it just won't happen.
sometimes it's a good and some times it's a schit

I agree.  I'm probably in the minority, but I've posted many times, that the best and fastest way for Arkansas to become a force in the SEC, is by building a defense that is the baddest in the land.

Bama claims ten zillion National Championships, and the D was the driving force behind Bama's success.  Like the rest of the SEC, Bama became infatuated with the fun and gun, and for a time, moved their point of emphasis away from defense. It was short-lived!  Their performance in the Cotton Bowl against Tech indicates that Kines is getting their focus back to what made them successful.

Jackie Sherrill took a very weak MSU team, and by focusing on defense, built the Bulldogs into a program that competed at a very high level in the SEC, for several years in a row.

If we do have a coaching change, and we don't hire Butch Davis, Chizik would be the first on my list.

I am a HUGE Frank Broyles fan and the job he's done architecturally at UA is second to none.  I hate to say it, but what UA needs is a clean sweep, from Athletic Dir. on down.  I know Broyles is a legend but..... that type of closed minded thinking will keep the Hogs a "middle of the pack" SEC team, when with the facilities at UA, and the fan support which more than one program is envious of, UA should be a National Power year in and year out.

P.S. My step daughter is enrolling at UA in the Fall, I might have to get a Hog hat.

Excellent points, particularly #4. Right on the money there, fellow Horn fan.
I don't want you to agree with me because you're weak. I want you to agree with me because you know I'm right.

Frank is not going to hire an assistant coach , that has been the policy and I am sure he will stick with it.  The only exception I can see to that, is if Malzhan is successful in building the offense into a  power he may have an outside chance at becoming the next Razorback head coach.   There are not many like him that can recruit, organize, manage and at the same time be an excellent coach.   He is definitely a brilliant coach and person.

My hatred for Texas runs as deep as anyone's, but Street didn't come here packing a flame thrower.  I don't remove posts very often, but I'll not ignore unprovoked name calling, even if it is directed at a fan from Texas.

and a d@mn good one.

Had he been DC in the SB last season, WVU would have been stopped in their tracks.

Finally a name besides Butch Davis.  Sounds like a winner Street.

I think Texas gave up 595 yards to USC, which is astronomical on its face, but that was versus the sport's toughest offense in five years. Otherwise, their numbers at UT were very impressive, and Chizik appears to be smart and enthusiastic. I don't know if he's interested, but he might get my vote if the Hogs were hiring a new coach. Can we have Chizik and Malzahn, too?

ClubChubby

We all know frank will go for a one year wonder in the mac or similar. Money is all frank can handle these days.

It really is time to retire the old man with all the pomp and circumstance we can muster. If he won't go along, he should be sacked like nolan.

"Advice" is a noun that means "a recommendation." "Advise" is a verb that means "to recommend." (Examples: Your advice saved me time and energy. I advise you to go to bed early tonight.)

Is there a reason to mention that when USC scored 4 touchdowns on Arkansas in their first 7 or 8 plays?
