I know it didn't change any dynamics of the game. Why call a timeout with 8 seconds left in the game to ice the FG kicker? Really what was the benefit? It wasn't 4th down. Isn't 8 seconds more than enough time to run 2 plays? My thoughts at the time were - Accept the field goal as a gift instead of giving A&M the opportunity to reconsider taking one more shot at winning the game in regulation before giving in to overtime.
