Interesting read, thanks.  3 years.  That's how long I give Nutt at Oxford.  It will take one season, maybe two. for the Rebel faithful to realize their 'big name' coach is a used car salesman.  Then another season or two and he'll be run out of the State.  I can't wait to see it unfold.
I don't like to plan my day because then the word premeditated comes into the conversation.

UAFan4Life

My favorite part is the quote from Vaughn, that says something like you couldn't beat us away from Nutt with a 2x4.

Jdub

Ha ha

I nearly threw up my $.99 cent taquitos.

The real Hogules

"I should have stuck to my guns," Nutt said. "I should have hired differently and not have given so much responsibility to certain people."

The man is still, and will always be a complete idiot.
He still thinks what he did wrong was to give responsibility to "certain people" (Gus Malzahn), when the real problem was he didn't give responsibility to anyone and back stabbed until he ran them (Gus Malzahn, Mitch Mustain, Damian Williams) off.

I hope he enjoys Oxford!

Um, what little control he gave Gus we were 8-1. When he took it back we were 2-3. What world does this guy live in?

PolishPigPower

From Nutt:
"My wife loves those street signs, brotha!"
"I've given a love of (text messaging) love to the places I've been."
"I should have hired differently and not have given so much responsibility to certain people, even though PawPaw told me to."

From Olajubutu:
"Ole Miss players should feel lucky because they're going to love him. Sometimes coaches can be kind of fake, but coach Nutt really did care."

From Vaughn:
"I realize that he has bad days just like everybody else. But the players won't know that."
"You couldn't beat us away from coach Nutt with a stick, which was proven with Coach Campbell was moved to the front office to make room for me!"

From Lee:
"I've been in football for a long, long time in the NFL and in college and (Nutt) is still the best motivator I've ever seen.  Yessir!"

And my personal favorite part of the story:

"Senior staff assistant Chyna Ward, now entering her 13th year at Ole Miss, deals with Nutt more than anyone else. Her office sits just a few feet from Nutt's at the Indoor Practice Facility.  Nutt says hello as he walks past Ward and into his office. Once he's out of sight, Ward lowers her voice to a whisper so that her new boss can't hear.  "You know, this is already my fourth head coach," said Ward, laughing softly.  "I sure hope this one stays for awhile. I don't know why, but I have a good feeling."

Oh, he can text someone alright.  He can text someone in 2.6 seconds flat!  ;)

I bet he stays as long as he wants.  THey have been so bad for several years now that he will be loved for awhile just like he was here.  He'll win 6 games or so next yr because he has some talent.  THeir fan base will just be excited to win a few conference games. By the time they figure him out, he'll have been there 5 or 6 yrs and they'll be winning about 7 games a year and won't want to fire him like they did with Cutcliffe. Dale is the luckiest guy on the planet.

"i should have hired wiser".......pure hdn bs. in a way sad, because he probably actually believes that.  he has no idea how good things could have been with gus .

Petrino will be AR longer than Nutt is at Ole Miss. Nutt should've been in sales, not D-1 coaching.

He took a shot at Frank with the "I should have stuck to my guns" comment.

I agree Melhog Nutt will retire at Ole Piss.

"The other day my wife was telling me how she loves the new street signs," Nutt said. "She loves the new stadium, the new restaurants, the new names and the new faces. I feel the same way. It's been rejuvenating."

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear the witch has all this new stuff to rejuvenate her. Wonder if she took her same old 2X4 or if she found herself a new one?

I read it that way also.
However, and I'm by no means a hugger (see my sig line)....JFB deserved that.
If JFB is going to force HDN to hire someone, then he needed to force it all the way.  Don't back out before game 2 of the season, allow GM to be backstabbed, etc.
Having said that, JFB shouldn't have meddled.  Period.  With any of the coaches.
There's plenty of blame to go around to HDN & JFB for the entire GM/Springdale fiasco.

I haven't had a chance to say this in awhile---but SUCK IT NUTT.

He's still satisfied with what he did---have a couple All-American tailbacks, win 10 game, etc. Finishing the job, winning a championship, wasn't even on Nutt's ballot.

biggiepiggie

He's still trumpeting his 10 win season.  With DMac and Felix Nutt he was
27-22 which is 55% winning percentage.  For his 10 years he has a 60%
winning percentage.  So with DMac and Felix and no passing we were
WORSE than when we didn't have them.  That's what comes from putting
too much effort into running and none in the passing.

ATLHogcallin

My smile just gets bigger and bigger thinking only having to read this kind of mess and associating it with Ole Miss.  Nutt and Ole Miss ---it makes me chuckle everytime I think about it.  They deserve one another.

An SEC coach that thinks like this?  wow.  "The Perfect Storm" is over for us.  nut could never have lasted 10 years except for the perfect conditions and people in place that spawned and sustained him.  Now lets rebuild.

His support system is not with him in Mississippi - family, connections, White, 80+ yr old JFB, Lindsey.

What I thought was interesting was the fact that the one year Hooten has a passing attack, it was with a QB he did not recruit. Or the Ole Piss fans that stupid?

Agreed.  This is a program that has accustomed to bottom feeding.  They will be content with someone that takes them away from the catfish level and up to the crappe (the fish), level so to speak.  Interesting and I just thought of it but in MS they call them crappie as in crap.

Given that I live around many Ole Miss fans, let me tell you what they say about their team now. They say that Orgeron could not coach but his recruiting was great. They think that Nutt will take them from 0-8 to 6-2 in SEC next year based on Nutt's coaching ability and based on Orgeron's great recruits he left behind on the team. That's what they believe will happen this coming season.

My opinion is that Nutt is not a great coach and OM's players are not as good as their fans think. Thus, Nutt will be doing well to win 2 or 3 SEC games next season. Once  OM fans realize Nutt is no savior as head coach, they'll bail on him as fast as they did on both Cutcliffe and Orgeron. Remember, Nutt is going up against Petrino, Miles, Tuberville, Crooms and Saban...and that's just in the West division. Nutt is now the worst coach in the SEC West.
I don't want you to agree with me because you're weak. I want you to agree with me because you know I'm right.

This is a very insightful and excellent point you make about Nutt and his support system. Very astute of you. This will have a negative effect on Nutt. He won't be as secure and it will not have a good effect on his decision-making as head coach at Ole Miss. The OM fanbase will make excuses for Nutt for the first 2 years then when Nutt doesn't produce in year 3, while making nearly $2 million/yr, they'll turn on him and Nutt will have no one there to back him up. He doesn't know anyone on the University Board of Trustees and doesn't know the AD very well either. And I can guarantee you that Chancellor Khayat (whom I know personally) will never do for Nutt what White did for him.

As a two-sport star growing up in Little Rock, Nutt knew he would be a coach. He just didn't want it to be so soon. "I figured I'd get started coaching right after I finished my 10 years in the NFL or NBA," Nutt said with a grin.

Yep, he's still a lunatic.

Idiot.

Classic smoke & mirrors.  How do you explain away years of horrendous passing with "We had Felix and Mcfadden?"

And one wonders how things get so twisted in the media.  All of these columnists stick with the "Nutt turned down millions to stay at Arkansas" and the whole "Nutt made a midnight decision to go to Ole Miss."  I'd be embarrassed to print such fantasy

Nope! Houston Nutt will be at Ole Miss for a long time in my opinion. Things will not be the same at Ole Miss as it was at Arkansas for Nutt, meaning contraversy. He will have alot of success at Ole Miss, and be there as long as he wants!  IMO.

Like making stupid predictions in public ? Nutt has no posse in Mississippi to do his dirty work. No one in Oxford will pay the least bit of attention to Diana's menacing group of lesbian goons. In short he's on his own. He will have to survive as a coach. End of story.
