Appalachian shot lights out today, but a 7 point loss??? Miserable. The highlight of the game was watching the John Daly interview.

Can we please hire Nolan back? I am so tired of not being good in basketball

I'm beginning to not feel so optimistic for this season.  Loose defense, missed FT's, and no outside shooting.  Kinda Heathlike performance.  Good hustle and fewer turnovers seem to be the only things different.

In my opinion we would not have lost in Fayetteville. In basketball , a familar court (one you practice on every day) is a huge advantage. We gave that advantage away by playing in Little Rock. Basketball is different than football.

We've got to get better coaching.

WHAT - dude get the bong resin out of your head - that was on the players shoulders - it was a bad game.

The real Hogules

Gary Ervin was a total waste of a scholarship and that's not an opinion formed on any single game, either.

Sonny Weems is another player that has not lived up to his billing, coming out of Juco.

What coach Pelphrey is doing by substituting offense for defense (besides keeping players fresh) is covering up for athletes that have holes in their individual games.

I honestly believe that once he gets his type of athletes at the UofA we will see a much different substitution pattern from coach Pel.
Bobby's back and he ain't here to paint!

Of course it was Heathlike performance....same old heathlike lame players...I am out on all except
Bev

I'm not worried about Pelphrey.  This team flat out stinks.
I'm ready to see Coach Pel get his own guys in there, see what they are capable of.  He has a darn good recruiting class coming in, guys.

Wake me up when Baseball season starts. Great Senior Class.  If they were any good they would be in the NBDL

App State seemed okay playing there.

This was my first time to see Marcus Britt in a Razorbacks uni and that's what I thought as well (Lee Mayberry), they could have been twins!

Weak excuse. App State hadn't played in Little Rock. We were out-coached. It's as simple as that.

You know whats sad is we didn't play great, but we played good enough to win.  Hats off to Ap State because it is damn hard to not win shooting 70% from field.  I'm in shock, but I wouldn't say the season is over after that.  We just need to sit Gary Ervin's butt on the bench, and teach Sonny to stop shooting when he is not on.  Other then that I liked the hustle.  Britt played great D, Beverley, Townes, and Thomas all had great intensity.  I have to question some of the officiating as well.  This hurts, but isn't as bad as it seems.  They play DI in a decent conference, and even though they've struggled, they looked like a real team.

hogfan_mm

the court sure didn't seem to mess with App st.  we are just horrible!

Give Pel-Freeze a chance to operate a couple of years with his own players before we pull the plug on him.

I take it back, the team doesn't stink...
They just have been coached the wrong way for too long.  A lot of talent went to waste under Heathball.
You can turn it around in one year.

Pelfrey inherited a bunch of lowly motivated boneheads.

Porkyswine

Here's the deal.  For a long time, we have not recruited pure shooters.  We recruit guys who can jump, and only work on how flashy they can be when the dunk the ball.  They don't shoot free throws or care to shoot free throws.  If they get a tomahawk dunk and we lose,,, well that's better to them than if we won and they made 6 of 6 from the line.  So, let's worry about how baggy our pants look, about the low rider, the fuzzy dice, and curb feelers.  Screw shooting free throws, setting screens, and playing like Indiana (of old), Duke, Kansas.  Let's just streetball it dawg.

Wild Bill Hog

Britt is the real deal.  Glad we've got him.

With time off for the Christmas Holiday as a reward and these players played without fire in their bellies.  No amount of motivation is going to light a fire under these guys if time-off from practice is not even a motivator.

Beverley now has a pending paternity suit, so it could get bumpy with him. Let's hope he rises above the outside pressures and becomes an NBA-caliber player who can deal with the heat.

I'm not worried about Coach Pelphrey.Let's face it,this team, with SIX seniors, has serious holes.Townes was repeatedly used down low,Weems has a ton of ability but is way too turnover prone.Beverley and Britt bring energy, but poor shooting and a low basketball IQ continually do us in.

Pel said they lose and they aren't going home. I say work their ass off every day this week and keep doing it until i get the point.

I feel a major beatdown by Baylor coming.

Oh good we heard the crowd and lost!!! Blame I am not saying we played well, I am saying that the court makes a diff in basketball. At least that has been my experince. Why dont we just travel around the state and play in a diff gym every home game. I give this loss to Broyles for playing in LR.

JONAS

Lately we have played like crap in Little Rock.  Remember the Texas Tech games last year.

Yeah lets just get a bunch of white boys like Rakestraw and Sanchez, and see how great we would be.  Wow someone is letting their racism out!  We've been recruiting the wrong type of players, but to say these kids don't care about the win is ridiculous.  I don't know if you saw the reactions of players like Beverley, Thomas, and hell even Townes late.  These guys showed heart and were angry about the loss.  You guys can question their play and decisions, but don't question their heart and will to win.

Coach Pelphrey has made a allot of positive changes

They are playing with intensity but had a bad game tonight, plus App State was lights out (kind of like their football team was at Michigan)

Shooting 3's and Free Throws killed us.......When you  have guys like Thomas and Towns who are hot you need to feed them the ball.

Don't give up on the coaches or players over a bad day.

If you check the SEC schedule you will find that exactly half of our games will be played on the road.  Additionally, the SEC Tournament is played on a neutral court as is the NCAA Tournament.  A team needs to learn how to win away from their practice gym.  You do this by playing away from home.  Get a grip on reality.

slopinhogs

be patient guys and gals . help is on the way and Pelphry is the coach we need . we have just given these guys way to much credit for being good basketball players the last 4 years, ervin drives the middle with no purpose in mind and turns it over nearly every time.they hit some and miss some and well thats ok at the free throw line that is, till you meet a team like appalachgia state that don't miss their free throws. weems and beverly can't hit a bull in the butt with a paddle, so where are their minds at i wonder.
i say sit these guys and play the young ones they are the future of the prog4ram ,and if we are going to lose let it be because of lack of expierence not lazyness. :razorback:
win lose or tie i'll call the hogs till i die

You can have the best coach in the world and still loose ballgames.  When your players are basically slow, uncoordinated and brick every shot, I think some of you guys are asking to much.

3kgthog

Where do you go with this team? You look at Hill. Decent defender but an empty jersey on offense. Look at Thomas. Shows up one game, disappears for two. Britt hustles and plays good D, but he's the worst shooter on the team by far. Townes can be effective on offense, but he's lazy on defense and just got raped today. Washington thinks he's a 3-pt specialist. Ervin is self-explanatory. Beverley hustles, but he is a less potent version of Jannero Pargo. Welsh probably should've taken a football scholarship somewhere since he was a 3-star WR. Weems will probably win the NBADL All-Star game dunk contest next season. So basically for every good quality this team has they have two negatives that erase them.

Enjoy sitting in Fayetteville for Christmas boys. I'm sure Mrs. Pelphrey can cook ya'll up a nice meal. I wouldn't eat too much though. Those upcoming two-a-day practices are going to suck.
