I'm from Eastern Arkansas. Being in the construction business, I traveled there Monday-Friday for 10 years, I can tell you that place has no right to be downgrading anybody, its a slum at best.

Dwight_K_Shrute

Cal versus Brady would be classic.  They may get into right on the court.  Love him or hate him it would be extremely entertaining.  He would be the black hat in almost every opposing arena.  It would bring the rivlaries in the SEC to a whole nother level.
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Killean

Man, I'd pay him $5,000,000 per if we could get rights to have cameras set up in Memphis.

It is time to hire Majerus or Montgomery and put an end to this madness.  Both big-time coaches, proven winners.  Available and affordable.  Forget BG and Cal.  Hire a proven winner today.

I agree.

with a coach like Calipari we could get in any living room in the country for recruiting ..... please don't screw this up Broyles
" Coach Lee's offense is more broken down all the way where everything is right, " Crawford said. " Everything is for everybody. Coach Lee's offense is more advanced than the offense we had last year was. A lot more advanced. Coach Lee, he knows his stuff. "

QuoteThere is something slimey about Calapari.

Just because his hair is slicked down doesn't make him slimy. ;D
You know you're getting older when your idea of lettin it loose is taking a laxative.

We would be able to go nose to nose with Kentucky (like the mid-1990's) no matter who they hire.  It would be great if they hired Gillispie!  We'll kick is strauny butt!

Quote from: Razorhog2006qDon't get too excited, it's likely that he's doing the same thing as Gillispie. I do think we can get him if we put out the big bucks though. Memphis can't outbid us.

By me being so close to Memphis I know a lot about Calipari.

His representatives do this every year for him because this is what he wants happening.

Every opening at a High D-1 school you will here Calipari's name come up as a possible replacement.

Folks the man is NOT LEAVING MEMPHIS. This is just an ego maniac and slick manipulator doing what he does best.

Arkansas fans don't become what happened to NC State fans last year.

Trust me you will here a lot about Calipari to ARK and some of it will sound serious, but it won't happen.Coach Cal love him or hate him, you have to appreciate his con skills as a city slicker.

Ole Frank is just falling for his routine as so many have in the past.

Razorbacks' fans ought to feel honored that Cal has chosen the Hogs as his latest victim. He only targets Major College Programs.I guess we still got it.

Well I would be in your boat paddling along with you if this did not happen at the Final Four. He wasn't talking with representatives, he was talking to the man himself. Frank wouldn't have flown back if was not confident he has gotten his man...is it Cal? Could be or could be someone else. But the fact that Broyles wants this done soon, the fact he is back in Arkansas, the  fact that reports are surfacing in Memphis AFTER Frank has already landed in Arkansas, means there is a lot of smoke to this. If this was a fishing expediiton for more money for Cal, this news would have broke yesterday or sooner.

You know it.  Frank doesn't come home with the job not finished.

Complete Agreement.  No way he comes home this early if its not for a damn good reason.  He's here because something has happened.  MM or Cal, I don't know.   I do know that something is going down this time.  For those who say that Cal is getting an extension, it has already been laid out on the table and is NOT signed and money talks.  What ever you think, Money talks.

He is supposedly making 1.8 at Memphis.  I would think it would take almost 3M to get him.  He's not worth that much, IMO.

We need to put up WHATEVER it takes to get him. This is the coach that will revive the basketball program. This is the coach that will strike fear into opposing SEC teams. No excuses, Frank. Put up the money.

exactly!  the hogs would go from the outhouse to the penthouse immediately with this hire

Why would Calipari turn down KY (wouldn't even talk to them) but yet want to come to AR?
He is making a fool out of Frank. and here is the reason he's doing it. this from a Memphis fan.

I'll say this, if Frank has once again been played then someone with the right authority needs to permanently remove him from not only coach searching, but from performing any kind of duties as an AD effective immediately.

If we do hire Calipari, do you think he should apologize to the Hogs fans for saying bad things about our program, during the PC introducing him?

I don't care if he apologizes or not. I don't have to like him and he doesn't have to like me. Win, and don't embarass.  If he does that, come on down.

He does graduate players though and momma's like that in recruiters.

He's not coming here. he used Frank , just so he could say, see i told you they are not a bigtime program. i turned them down. he will use that in recruiting against us. Man_O_Pork

This. from the Memphis Tigers' Board:

"The thought of Cal coaching and living in the Fayetteville area is absolutely hilarious...Cal'd think he's died and gone straight to Hades if that happened. "

As opposed to living in the great city of Mem-phrica?  Believe me...it's high class living...

NC State is a tough job.  Duke and UNC are in your backyard.  NC State has a good basketball history and strong fanbase, but it will always be 3rd in that state.  Cal knew, but the chance to win in the SEC and win at a school with tons of tradition and losts of assets has got to thrill him.

hogfansince1964

The news is that permission has been granted to talk, not that an offer has been made.

This has not reached the level of the BCG situation, so if nothing comes of the talks there will be no humiliation involved.

If Calipari doesn't work out Broyles better have somebody else lined up because it will be hard to get others to take us seriously if we offer big money and these coaches keep turning us down

Agreed! This is not the embarrassement of BCG, they have at least talked to him. This is just permission to talk, no job offer has been announced. Nor would it unless he was going to accept. Everyone needs to chill a bit and let things play out. It could be Cal, it could be Montgomery, it could be Altman, it could Webber, heck it could be anyone at this point. I reckon we'll know soon enough.

They have that dateline because of the location of the AP bureau.   Its not a bias against the location of the University.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

If he comes here, it would have to be for the big bucks, right?

WxHog

Someone here posted 1.8 million, but I am not sure how true that is.

bosshawg38

I would assume so. Memphis is a team that has contended in the tournament the last couple of years. The talent level at Memphis has never been higher. They have some absolute studs coming in next year. The only reason I believe a coach like Calipari would come to Arkansas would be money.

I seriously doubt this number, doesn't pass the smell test...  Would that not put him ahead of all Big-12 coaches and most, if not all SEC coaches?

Another factor to consider, Memphis vs. NWA?
