He didn't do us any good.  Now we have an extra spot.

Silver Hog

It's ok. We just have to recruit one more for the new guy.

badbeagle

no worries! we stretched to take him.  that dude, was not a div 1 player.  does that free up a scholi for next year?

Dugann

DTS was talking about some of the frictions and also that there might be a few gone mccurdy could be one of them and mcnown or what ever his name.  I do think that if they leave w/o giving the new coach a chance is well just dumb.
By Gosh He Didn't Come Back To PAINT!!!!

Sean McCurdy is a D1 player.  You have 300+ D1 teams.
He just didn't make the adjustment to the SEC play.  He'd do fine in CUSA or the MVC.
I wish him well.  McCurdy never complained.  Played hard in the minutes he got.
Guess that's what you learn under Coach Hurley.

Here's betting we now take Mike Sanchez from Har-Ber high school. Like him or not he has some good offers and some good coaches in America want him. Including our very own BCG who offered him at Texas A&M.

Hunter is gone too. i just don't like the guy, he plays with an attitude... the wrong kind of attitude.

anthonytkr

They were considering leaving before SH was fired, may not be now.

grizzlyhawg

the news just keeps gettin' better!

Naa...hate to diss a player, except for what Vincent Hunter did, but McCurdy made me cringe when he was in the game.

Maybe he can play basketball at Harding.

wooo

Hunter will have difficulty with any coach that comes in after the bitterness he spewed

Odd.  He is a guy who's been on record as saying the Heath firing was a good thing.

It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. I hope so.  There's a bunch of post players graduating next year.

Dugann

think that is dumb move on his part not to at least give the new coach a chance....that just crazy.

Yeah, he really made himself look bad by his comments yesterday..IMHO.

If Beverley leaves, I'll be upset, but McCurdy was easily the least talented player on our roster this past season.  He is insignificant and it's probably a good thing for Arkansas basketball that he's going to leave.

Good riddance mccurdy

This opens a scholarship correct?

It should, I am positive he was on scholarship at U of A.

unfortunately, mccurdy could not acceptr things the way they were nd he has asked for his release, and I HAVE GRANTED, his release...and he'll have that tomorrow morning....and i wish him the best. But these kids have all been successful....we had a reciever...freshman all sec...we had a QB freshman all sec...mitch mustain....they won 10 games...championships....its gotta be...(starts bouncing around) about team....gotta have heart...gotta love that helmet.

I'd liked to have seen McCurdy and Sammy Munsey go at it in one-on-one

Cannon Whitby would have ate McCurdy's lunch.  So would Davor.

That's gross.

Wow i thought McCurdy was stayin...

slopinhogs

i hear McGowan, Hunter and Mccurdy . no great loss with any of them frees up three schollies though.
win lose or tie i'll call the hogs till i die

leavenworth1

Never liked him, free up a scholly, no worries here.  Not anywhere close to being able to defend in the SEC.

Have you heard of Mr. Cranford?  He rarely got off the bench.  Nothing against him, but not everyone can play in the SEC.

Yeah, everyone expects the "love the helmet" but they sure don't want to love the kids wearing the helmet unless that kid is All American material.

Dugann

I have a feeling that who ever we get they will bring a player or two with them, I just hope Beverly don't go that would be a huge mistake for him IMO.

Agreed 100% Bomis.

Seemed like a stand up guy.  Personally I think he got the shaft last year not getting any more PT while Dontell Jefferson got a ton.  This year, I would have liked for him to get a few more minutes.  In any case, he's a heady player that hustles and does what he's asked to do.  Very smart.  Never got a chance to get any kind of groove going.  Hate to see him go.
A man who wouldn't cheat for a poke, don't want one bad enough!

weresoclose

McCurdy gone is fine.  But I will say McCurdy played hard when he was given the chance.  His effort level was way above the majority of Razorbacks this year.  I wish him the best.

Cranford is easily the least talented scholie athlete on the team.  That is a waste right there.  McCurdy was not a waste, considering our point guard status.

I know Hunter is an easy target, but what he said was not as bad as it's being made out to be.  It's not like the rest of the team was giving 100%.  Hunter probably did deserve more than 0 minutes, especially if he's kept on schollie, encouraged to stay and rehabed to make him a part of the team.  If the other forwards had put forth all their effort this year, and Hunter had been his lackadaisical self, then I would say he didn't have room to talk.  But I distinctly remember Townes and others STANDING around and not even getting back on defense.  I think Hunter deserves some slack.  At least he wasn't scared to come out in favor of THE RIGHT MOVE--to dismiss Heath.

HeathWimp

McCurdy was a non-factor...wish him best in the Patriot League, or wherever he lands.
11/19/2023:  Keeping my original semi-prophetic, apocalyptic signature below.  We continue to regret passing on Norvell, who is in the running for the Playoffs.  We continue regret passing on Kiffin, who is eyeing a New Years 6 game.  Heck, we regret passing on Drinkwitz (he may be a dork, but he will have his team in a New Years 6 game after they truck us on Black Friday).

Meanwhile, Sam is drinking Pittman, wondering if he has the leverage to re-hire Enos, Sexton is doing the triple Lindy into his Olympic-size pool full of cash, and thousands of hog fans are planning to dress up as empty seats for next year's Halloween game.

11/25/2018:  My original "Chad Morris" signature is below.  I'm modifying my view as follows:  We will continue to regret passing on Norvell and Kiffin.   After 3 years, when Morris is 10-26, we are going to be saying "What were we thinking?  Even Bert was better than this!"

Anyone that read The Miracle of St. Anthony was immediately aware that McCurdy would not survive here. There are numerous stories in that book about McCurdy not being very athletic, being injury prone, etc. Not to mention his tendency to become unhappy easily.

I'm thankful for the years of his life that he gave us, but it's time for him to find a lower conference or division where he can play and be effective. He simply doesn't have the quickness nor the sharpshooting ability to make himself a player in a conference like the SEC.

Anon2

Word is that Frank told Heath that the experts told him that white point guards wouldn't work in the SEC.

I really liked McCurdy.  Hate to see him leave.

Gotta check out that tornado warning SW of here.

Where'd you hear that.  Evening news only reported McCurdy officially out and Patrick Beverly to meet with AD tonight or tomorrow.

Yeah. I also remember reading a line in there guaranteeing he would transfer regardless where he went.

moses_007

He wouldn't have made it under BG anyway. :razorback: :razorback:

Tomhog™

It's been rumored for over a month that someone was going to transfer.  That's why the coaches have been recruiting Walker the PG even though we already have two commits (one being a signee)  This isn't a surprise to the current staff, what's left of it...

Adam Stokes

I know we had an extra schollie left over from Ronnie, we knew that another spot was going to get opened up because of Cranford or a possible transfer.  Now we're on par with the amount of schollies handed out.  If BG or whoever brings players with him we can pull Hunter's schollie if we need to and maybe McGowans.  It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Still gotta love McCurdy's shot against TT last year.

I love it when guys who get paid to fertilize the airwaves with opinion get holier-than-thou when a kid simply voices his.

So Vince Hunter didn't like his coach.

That's his right. Big deal.
