Big difference in when Eddie was having problems and when this guy was having his.  The world has changed my friend the world has changed.  No desire to have his as HC even if he was sober for years.  Like some of the above posters I think he is average at best.

What took you so long??

I realized that hiring Long was a mistake  when he tried to hire Tommy Bowden and Jim Grobe as Football HC while ignoring Bobby Petrino and then, he was force fed Mike Anderson like a baby in a high chair.

I'll admit that I gave him high marks for hiring Bret Bielema, he sure fooled me with that one. I really believed Bret would turn things around.
He did offer Grobe and a few of the foundation members refused to write the check so Grobe had to quietly take his name out of the hat is what I have been told. I took a wait and see on Bret and still am not sure what has gone on.  My guess would be that at the first sign of adversity the players bail on him because of all the extra non traditional stuff they go through. Jelly sandwiches, guys carrying mattresses around when there 5 minutes early but it's called late, benching them when the prof doesn't require them to be in class , etc.   I believe in discipline but it can backfire when your losing if you don't have total buy in.  Not eating three meals a day.

His substance issues aren't my issue with him. I think people can get clean. Not saying it's easy, but with the right help, it's possible.

What's impossible is a mediocre coach winning at Arkansas. And Sark is most definitely that.

Another knock on him was he doesn't recruit defensive players.
Philon,Flowers,Winston,Wise,  can't remember a few line backers and d backs that are now in the pros.  That is a myth

I wouldn't mind a few of those on this roster.

I still want to understand how a true freshman, and we have quite a few, should be playing right in o-line positions over linemen that have been in the program for 3 or 4 years.  Isn't this a slam on the CoachHerb factor?   I get it with skill positions like WR and RB because that can just be speed.   O-Line and Linebacker are positions where, if you look at the depth chart, we have a lot of freshman in the 2 deep.

Taking this and your later posts at face value it would be good if you realized this place is filled with walkin talkin rectums. Read and laugh it's all that it's good for.

No luck at all. Didn't need it. Played 80% of the games vs lesser talent

Petrino in 2010 and 2011 alone beat 7 teams ranked at gametime, 5 teams that finished the season ranked and 2 that finished in the Top 10.
Bielema in all 4 years combined beat 7 ranked teams at gametime, beat 4 teams that finished the season ranked and 1 that finished in the top 10.

But carry on....

Strong landed in the right place after the UT disaster. But he would never win big enough in Arkansas.

"We"? Got a mouse in your pocket? I think I know how to respond to them - the same way I have for the last 40 years.

Why would that change?
I'll bet you dribble wee-wee into your tighty-whiteys  when you hear a funny joke in a vain attempt to prove the joke was not funny.

How many were over 30 yards?

Tell me a meaningful kick that he made from 2015-17. Either won a game...sealed a game...or was from any meaningful distance. Any of the above.

He lost me by having kicks blocked that would have potentially won the Ole Miss game and the 29-yarder from the Miss St game that year. Forget somebody not being blocked, the fact remains his kicks have always been too low. All of that was obvious in 2015.

I'm glad you had confidence in him, because I sure didn't. I think anyone would look at Arkansas's kicking situation and see some real limitations there. At least McFain last year, he wasn't deadly accurate, but I had confidence that it was NOT going to be blocked. And I had reasonable confidence he would make it. I never had any of that with Hedlund.

He missed two kicks last season and was 95% in camp. I'm just wondering what you thought would be the reason for him losing his job. Just a gut feeling or what? Because it wasn't his performance evidently.
