A group of Auburn fraternity brothers needed a go-to pose for their pledge class photos, so the freshmen at the Phi Gamma Delta house came up with a simple, non-descript move that would hold special meaning in their small circle.

They each raised one hand and extended their index fingers. As the years passed, the pose lost steam among the friends. One freshman in the photo, however, would continue the tradition through his senior year.

Little did they know this small gesture -- a straight index finger and emotionless gaze --
