I actually thought message boards were an outlet to say how you felt to other irrational fans who understand you feel after a 1-9 start.

No, that's therapy.

Rationality is the mark of a decent message board;  when that disappears, it's f*cking clown shoes.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

May I illustrate the difference?

Example #1: "I really believe Pel is in over his head. It's a shame that we've sunk so low we had to hire a coach from South Alabama. I just don't think he has the organizational skills to get it done at this level yet."

Example #2: "I support Pel 100%. He's one year removed from a NCAA Tournament win and 23 wins overall. We had to replace over 80% of our scoring. Give the man time."

There is nothing wrong with either #1 or #2. Both are reasonable positions to take.

The problem comes when in response to #1 or #2 someone posts something like:

"You're a freakin' idiot. You're not a real fan, you crying, whining feminine toolbag. You know nothing about basketball. F*** you."

THAT'S THE PROBLEM I'M TALKING ABOUT. I'm talking about posts that personally attack other Hog fans or their knowledge of the game.

See the difference?

Here is the other thing.

It's fine to say something like, "I don't think player X has the ability to play at this level. I don't think he has quick enough feet or good enough instincts." It's completely different to say, "Boy, player X sucks. He's horrible. Why did we waste a scholarship on him?"

The problem comes with some posters who log onto a message board and assume they can say whatever they want however they want with no repurcussions.

They can't.

Thank all of you for your outstanding analysis, well-thought out posts, civil dialogue, and just overall fine contribution to this forum.

You are without question the finest group of posters on the internet, and I stand in awe of your mere presence.

Hahaha, actually, Youtube comments are even worse. I always go there when I want to feel smart.
I support the Razorbacks in the city that never sleeps.

Patience is a virtue. And a lifeline at this point. These are our Hogs! When Jeff Long signed on as the AD, a new day dawned in Fayetteville. Let him do his job and have a little faith that he will effect change when change is needed. Losing in itself is not the issue here, building a competitive program is. This construction will take more than a season and a half in both basketball and football.

I choose to not look behind, not even to the last game. I am looking forward with hope that we will mature into an SEC force in both basketball and football.

The recruiting rankings guarantee success about as well as getting Lee Corso to choose your team as the winner.

Apparently you don't even have to curse or name call to get deleted, just say some posters are a little more condesceding than others and you'll get deleted too. I guess it's not what you say, but who you say it about
I'd rather be dead than be a Vol

Could be.

Any post I remove generally falls into one of four categories;

(1) player bashing;
(2) admin/mod bashing;
(3) poster bashing;
(4) board bashing.

Pretty much the same here.

Pretty much the same here.

Is that generally what the Liberals in Politics are trying to do to the Conservative radio talk show hosts now? "Delete them"? As long as you agree with them you are a rational man. If you disagree, you deserve to have your post deleted and risk censorship. Not everyone believes the HOGS are playing up to their potential.

Don't confuse free speech with a message board.  Be abusive, and it will be gone.

Two very different things. Don't screw up a good thing by introducing politics to sports' discussions.
I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater.
