Thank all of you for your outstanding analysis, well-thought out posts, civil dialogue, and just overall fine contribution to this forum.

You are without question the finest group of posters on the internet, and I stand in awe of your mere presence.

Picking up on your sarcasm.  You're in the wrong state, get a new map.
11/19/2023:  Keeping my original semi-prophetic, apocalyptic signature below.  We continue to regret passing on Norvell, who is in the running for the Playoffs.  We continue regret passing on Kiffin, who is eyeing a New Years 6 game.  Heck, we regret passing on Drinkwitz (he may be a dork, but he will have his team in a New Years 6 game after they truck us on Black Friday).

Meanwhile, Sam is drinking Pittman, wondering if he has the leverage to re-hire Enos, Sexton is doing the triple Lindy into his Olympic-size pool full of cash, and thousands of hog fans are planning to dress up as empty seats for next year's Halloween game.

11/25/2018:  My original "Chad Morris" signature is below.  I'm modifying my view as follows:  We will continue to regret passing on Norvell and Kiffin.   After 3 years, when Morris is 10-26, we are going to be saying "What were we thinking?  Even Bert was better than this!"

Im going through my head and pulling up all the bad to terrible teams Nolan had.  We just seemed to play with so much more passion back then. Even without players like Washington and Fortson we were just a better TEAM.  It just hurts and anyone who remembers can relate to my feelings.  Look left under my avatar AND ASK YOURSELF...............................

I had the same thought last night. During the fall, Jump Ball was a pleasant respite from some of the MMQB inanities/insanities. Then after the BCS Championship Game it all went to pot.

A great deal of that is hindsight being the best curative to remembering an ugly team's warts.

I remember Mario Credit being a petulant child; I remember Ron Huery coming in and immediately souring locker room chemistry. Don't even get me started on the last few years of Nolan.

Those teams had little passion, bad chemistry, and are only nicer through the fog of time.

I'm not sure why this was posted in this thread.  But at what point do we move past the bitterness of Nolan no longer being coach and drop the selective memories of his program and give his successors a realistic chance?

I cant argue your point.  Nolan just seemed like he could convince a donkey he was a race horse.  Larry Satchell was no Sanchez and T.J. Cleveland was no Rotnei Clarke.  But a this point Id take their heart and lack of skill before i would take what I am seeing in 09. I can deal with losing but I cannot deal with me attitudes and lack of peanuts.  just a small example of a larger picture. IMO

I think many will move on when we see something to move on to.  Right now after getting swept by teams like Auburn, selective memories are what gets some through these periods.

Bitter than Nolan is no longer the Hogs' coach? I was never bitter about that...not for 1 second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, or decade. On the contrary, I was bitter when he WAS the coach. When he was fired, a new day dawned. Unfortunately, Nolan's actions are still affecting the progam.
I don't want you to agree with me because you're weak. I want you to agree with me because you know I'm right.

I get Nolan's ending directly affected the decision for his successor.  And Heath wasn't quite good enough to rebuild the program the right way as far as balancing classes for the longterm even though he did leave a better group of players than what he had in season one.  But we are in season 7 after Nolan.  Shouldn't the Nolan effect end soon?  It took us 9 seasons to get past Hatfield.  Will 9-10 seasons be the point that we stop taking everything back to Nolan?

It won't be the MMQB until there is a Nutt thread or 3 on the page.  I will agree the folks that like to bitch have made their way over...  Uhhh reactionaries??? we lost our 6 top scorers from last year (that's everyone and one from the bench)...  what did you expect out of this season??  I know you talked alot of trash to your friends and over blew the oklahoma/texas wins, but don't forget that FACTS.  We have 2 upper classmen maybe 3 if you count britt, who contribute.  Expectations should be low, but optomistice since we showed we can pull off some big wins...  Pel really has one recruiting class in.  He had very few schollies last year.  Just try to be realistic and maybe step away from the Keyboard and breath some...

I agree.  I usually don't take anything or anyone too seriously, especially myself.   The way "fans" on this board have reacted to the basketball team and season is nothing short of embarrassing.  When the team, program, and coach need our support the most some would rather pile on with their uneducated jack a$$ opinions.

I support the players and Pel.  Has Pel proven it on the court yet?  Probably not, jury is still out and that's fine.  But he gets what the program means to the fans and this state.  He gets it 100 times more than War Face, and that's why I have faith that he will get it right or die trying.

Fans don't prove themselves during great years, hell anyone can be a fan when the going is good.  Yaayy we are winning see my t-shirt and Hog Hat I'm a Razorback Fan.  That Steve Walsh is good and I love that Curtis Fordson even though he has funny hair.  Fans earn their keep during the bad years, picking the team up and supporting them when things are at their worst.  It doesn't mean you support losing or don't care.  It means you are willing to stand there and show these kids we won't give up if they don't.

Lastly even if you can't be positive, hate the players, hate Pel and can't wait for a new coach and team, then just STFU and wait if they suck as bad as you think you will get your wish soon enough.
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

I'm pretty sure most of the negative posters who are calling for Pel's head are the same one's that always tried out every year for their high school basketball team and GOT CUT or are the one's who have never even tried to play a sport and think they know why our record is horrible in conference.  People today (especially many hogfans) always want results immediately.  That's why a lot of good coaches get run off before they can get the program turned around.

I was ready for Heath to leave.  He was in way over his head.  Sitting on the bench at Michigan State and going to the sweet 16 at a mid-major wasn't enough for him to be successful here.  I think Pel has our program on the right track.  Like many other posters, I agree that we lost all of our scoring from last year's team and we're depending on freshman and inexperienced players to deliver when they just aren't ready.

Be patient and give our program time to be a top program again.  It's gonna take more than one year for Pel to recruit the type of players to get us back to where we need to be.

I don't even have a problem with people doing that. I don't agree with it, but their opinion is just that.

What I have a problem with is the way in which opinions get expressed, on both sides.

I don't have much going on the next few days. I may just camp out in Jump Ball and do mass removals of threads and posts. The Trash Can may become the new Jump Ball.

I agree completely.  I didn't elaborate on it as well as you have however.  I feel a message board is a place where opinions ought to be rationally discussed.  It's one thing to call for Pelphrey's dismissal if you feel that the program is heading in the wrong direction and have some reasoning to back it up.  However, it's completely ridiculous when people come on the board and say "This is all Pelphrey's fault! We can't accept 1-8 in the SEC!!! Fire Pelphrey!"

I definitely have criticisms of a few things that John Pelphrey has done and I'm a bit worried the way things are going this season.  Nevertheless, I believe that Pelphrey deserves some time to get things back to where they should be and I have not lost faith in him yet.

This is a stupid post. It will end when it ends. It may be next year, it may be 5 years from now. When the Hogs win the SEC West again, it can be said that the Hogs have finally gotten over the damage that Nolan did in his last 7 seasons and that has continued for the 5 seasons since he was fired.

Well.....what'd u expect?  This is the worst basketball team the Hogs have had in half a century.  When that happens, regardless how bad it gets....you will always have your apologists, and your "haters."  These two groups are gonna clash and have a conflict of ideas....its inevitable.

If I was in charge of this board...and had a problem with this sort of thing, I would instill a "can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" rule, or else you're shown the door.  That would fix your problem.

A lack of blind overstatement would be high on the list of things 'to be expected'.

This is not the worst season in half a century;  we've already blown past several seasons since 1959.

I'm also basing this off Henry apparently not being full speed. Only 9 minutes against Auburn was strange.

Alot of it has to do with HOW things are said.  Another has to do with the complete absurdty of some of the posts.

I mean, really, who isnt frustrated with a 1-8 sec record?  But, some people have gone way overboard with their "thoughts" on Pelphrey and the players.

The team has 3 maion problems.

1.  No depth

2.  No experience

3.  They don't seem to like to play defense, at least not team defense.

Now, some of 3 will be taken care of as they get more experience.
