Does he become the first every first ballot guy? Or does some old timer refuse to vote him first ballot to keep him from being so?

sooiepig_12

There's one guy, not sure who it is, that won't vote for anyone who played during the Steroid era.

I think he will probably be the only one elected this year.  Would like to see one of my all time favorites Tim Raines but doubt it will happen.  Maybe Piazza.

ErieHog

He won't be unanimous, no.

Rock should get in;  I expect  though, that only one or two guys will,  with Griffey being the headliner.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

They took away voting rights from a lot of guys this year. Changed the voters eligibility requirements. I don't think he will be unanimous, although in my opinion he should be. He will challenge the highest percentage total though I think.

I think Piazza gets in too, will be cutting it close though.

Ken Griffey Jr. Sets the record with 99.3 percent. Who are the 3 guys who didn't vote for him? Really?

I'm ready to see the reasoning behind the 3 that didn't vote for Jr. I'm wondering if it's the same old "I knew he was getting in so I used my votes to help so and so out." The voting procedure should have been changed to a yes/no system a long time ago in my opinion.

That's 3 guys who should have their voting rights revoked.

Would like to see Rock and Lee Smith get in next year.  Smith really lost any chance over the last few years.

No big names next year - Pudge and Manny are both HOFs but are tied to steroids.

Bags and the Rock get in next year.

Hey, baseball, if you want the next generation to think you are not stupid and stubborn, start with ONE unanimous Hall of Famer.

Only reason Raines doesn't get in is because he played at the same time as Rickey Henderson.

I also think Schilling should get in.  The guy may be an idiot but he was deadly in big games.

Schilling is steadily climbing.  29, 39, and now 52.  Should be in within 5 years.  Sooner if steroid players keep getting avoided.

Its an incredibly silly reason;  Henderson is already in the Hall,   and isn't competing for votes.

Raines has spectacular numbers,  that are clearly Hall worthy.    There isn't a  per-era quota per position or leadoff hitter quota.

I agree.  But I think he never got the respect he deserved because he played at the same time as the greatest lead off hitter in history.
His numbers are hall of fame numbers but compared to Rickey's and they seem small.
