"The three-point line is a great equalizer in college basketball," said Pelphrey, a three-year starter at Kentucky who became a three-point shooting specialist. "On a given night, you hit a high number of those bad boys and anything is possible.

" So defending the three-point line will be critical in this game. That's a scary proposition for us right now."

Wofford's top gunners are senior guard Shane Nichols and sophomore guard Junior Salters. Nichols hit 85 of 201 three-point attempts (42. 3 percent ) last season, and Salters hit 57 of 144 (39. 6 percent ).
